It sounds to me that if a lens isn't 'supported', then PDAF is disabled outright with the Sigma adapter....which is unfortunate, as the adapter would basically be useless unless you're using the lenses they've enabled via the firmware.

I want to get my hands on one of the lenses that Sigma updated to be MC-11 compatible, to have a comparison.
but trying to find a camera store that has sigma lenses near me, and one that would let me update the firmware to try them out, would be close to impossible.

Macro shot my wife wanted to take of her new Sephora mini mouse make-up. 50L with extension tubes.

Had to stop down to get enough DOF and to account for the loss of t-stops with the extension tube. Very nice to still have a lot of latitude to push a file in post even at ISO 3200. There's some noise, but its very uniform, and in this particular shot, adds a cinematic type character. Lots of color detail in the file that can be extracted in post to get that red to pop against the rest of the frame.

Now I'm trying to "add funds to my wallet" and it's claiming my credit card information is incorrect - and I tried different cards. Thing is just flat out broken.
I admit I am so annoyed by this that it's tempting to just sell and get the heck away from this incompetent company. They don't want my money? Well, maybe I don't want their stuff.

You know, I still play with the idea of going back to canon. And stories like these tend to push me in that direction.
You still shooting the 5DSR I assume? So your lenses still all EF mounts?

Sony A7RII and a bunch of lenses.

I can't get the app installed either and its frustrating as hell but its not making me want to switch brands. The camera is awesome!

To be fair, the alternatives (Canikon) do not have apps that can be added to the cameras.

I was able to install the app just fine. Interestingly enough, it was linked to my playstation network account, so all of my payment info was already in the system. It might help to set an account up online, and get your payment info squared away there.

Still got the 5DS R and still have only EF mount lenses. I love the color from the a7R II and I am finally getting round to making a concerted effort to create a LR preset for the 5DS R that simulates the same color. Think I'm close to it by tweaking the sliders in the "Camera Calibration" panel.

Right now I am pretty much digging in - not planning to buy or sell anything. I sold the one lens I really wanted to (Zeiss 135mm) - those funds paid for my Tamron 90mm Macro and my new Mindshift Gear backpack and a travel tripod. That said I could change my mind later.

I've been pondering selling my 24-70L II to get that lovely new Sigma 20mm f/1.4 Art - which would give me a pretty awesome fast prime lens lineup of 20mm f/1.4, 35mm f/1.4, 55mm f/1.4, and 90mm f/2.8. But, then again that 24-70L II is superb, so maybe I'll stand pat.

+1, after you use the SR app, I really dont think you can go back! It gives you a raw ffs, and it's one amazing raw file that exceeds a single shot raw.

try mimmicking SR on photoshop and see how that works out :-P

I think I bought the app using gene's method, been so long ago, I dont recall exactly how I did it.

I recall labelling it "Sony Entertainment Network" (lol, I have notes of this stuff). According to my notes, I actually started here: http://www.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/home/ (external link)

I think I had to "Add funds to wallet" since I still have a penny in my wallet ($5 added minus 4.99 for the app).

going back at my history, that is indeed what happened, I funded my account with $5, then probably went in camera to make the purchase. I do recall having to log into the site from camera, which was really tedious since I typically create complex passwords.

I was afraid someone was going to say that. I thought of that excuse beforehand and all it does is infuriate me more for some reason. No excuses. It doesn't matter what other companies do or don't do: that app store sucks and lots of people struggle with it.

BTW I do already have my account up online with forms of payment set up. The stupid system just won't take my money. I have never ever experienced this from any web site ever. Sony - a freaking technology company! - is the sole company I have ever struggled to buy something from via the Internet. Unbelievably poor.

Yep, tried all that too. Tried to add $5 to my wallet and it won't take my money. Tried using Internet Explorer - apparently their stupid site only works with IE and Safari - nothing.

I'll keep trying because the SR app is awesome. I see that. So why the h3LL won't Sony sell it to me?!

Didn't mean to offend you David :-) Only relaying my experience. I did think it was cool that it synced up to my playstation network account.

The in camera store does indeed suck though. Sluggish as hell. It would be nice if there were a way to make your purchases online or via a smartphone app and have the camera sync up on the network without having to doing anything on the camera itself.

I added via Paypal fwiw. I'm pretty sure I did it that way because I was having issues :p

You didn't offend me Carlo. Not at all. :) I'm just really really really frustrated with the app store. I will keep trying and eventually I expect to get it. But, when I do it will go down as the most painful purchase I have ever made.

David, maybe try creating a new account? I can't say for sure why it finally worked for me. So bizarre and frustrating!

That's an idea. Like Carlo I already had a Sony account via Playstation and I had forgot my password, so I had to get that reset. Resetting my password was another painful ridiculous experience: with every other web site you click the "I lost my password" link and you get an email to reset it right away, but the Sony site took 2 1/2 days to send me that link. So, I am just having a bunch of rotten times with Sony's site.

BTW, we're heading to Petit Jean SP for a week of camping starting May 17...can't wait! Really loved your recent Arkansas photos. :)
