Wow, thanks! I have been surprised (and pleased) that it has been as well-received here and on Flickr. After I posted it I wondered to myself, "Just what the heck am I thinking, posting a photo of what looks like an explosion at the Skittles factory?" Oh well, it was a fun outing at the lake last evening. :)

I am grateful to have a gold mine of good landscape photography possibilities in the form of West Point Lake, (external link) which is an easy 10 minute drive from my house. The truly unique and special thing about West Point Lake is that it has an exceptional amount of public access parks all around it. I've been to many many lakes, but never one with so much shoreline access as this.

how could you think that way? :P but glad you shared it hehe

thanks for the info link, very nice lake and lots to do there. and only 10 minutes?? can't beat that. you make me want to look for lakes around here but they are too far for my lazy @$$ :P

Venus is a completely manual 2:1 60mm macro lens.

It's good when you want more than 1:1 but don't want to use the MP-65.
Does usually require flash/ring light-at 2:1 you're so close the lens blocks a lot of light.

Wow nearly 200.posts to catch up on...for now a question.

Anyone ever have back to back identical exposures look wildly different? Shooting this morning i had 2 10 second exposures. The first was completely blown out despite it being the right exposure and the following shot with no settings changed was fine? I will lost them later...sitting in the airport and too tired to fool with them.

I guess that's an area where the SY135 kicks ass. I quote LensTip (external link):

i agree with Jocau, the SY135 is virtually zero in CA even if you zoom at 100% or more.

wow!

do you have any thoughts and takes on the lens? or need more trials?

I'm yet to test more on the AF department. I got some hunting a few times. it could be the eye focus as she's moving is the culprit.

one thing for sure now, it's reliable in sharpness wide open at full body.
