Without meaning to offend anyone there's complete misinformation here. LENR works for RAW. LENR does remove noise (hence the name) and is not targetted at hot pixels which is why some hot pixels will still remain. It wont remove all noise at really high iso levels I.e astro levels. It does remove some hot pixels as they are treated as noise

Also , I can confirm LENR affects canon raw files too and not just sony

Thats what i'd say!

But who uses LENR anyway? I get only pissed by the time it needs to run it through the engine. It takes too long to bother with it, really.

I think its best anyway to remove noise in post and why should anyone care about hotpixels? On those high megapixel shots it wont get noticed when viewing on screen and when printing those hot pixels will get away anyway as it is on a printing grid (or however its called in english) and not pixels anymore. Add to that that the printing paper will always absorb the printing color to a degree where a single pixel that is hot or dead will not be visible.

The hotpixel discussion is just one big wash. Its just visible when viewing at 100% on a screen

Ah, apologies for my bad information. That's how I understood it, my fault for taking things I read at face value.

I did research in terms of Astrophotography where I guess the effect it's minimal and better done post process? Either way, sorry!

Sorry on my side if my post looked like an insult, was surely not meant this way. Just trying to clarify things a bit.

Batis 18 is in stock in Germany. Hopefully someone on FM forums gets a hold of it and does one of those in depth review threads. Really keen on this one so hopefully its a good one. Loxia 21 looks great but came to the realisation its too close to my Batis 25. Good thing about the loxia though compared to the Batis 18 is that its small

In other news I just managed to install smooth reflections App!!!

I logged into my playmemories account on my macbook. I then went to the wallet but instead of adding funds I clicked add paypal. Once I had added my paypal details it linked the account. I then went to the camera and clicked purchase on the app and it said pay by default payment type - paypal. Clicked confirm and it installed.

Finally!

That's awesome Eddie. Now go out there and get super test shots! Just make sure to go into the app settings and select RAW+JPEG. And select your smoothing (# of shots the app will take and merge).

Thanks mate. Changed to raw now. What's the deal with the presets? Do you just ignore them and do it manually with the custom setting?

say goodbye to your 16 stop firecrest, cant imagine using it again. Other filters still have life.

I was actually thinking that. The 16 stop is great but only when you prevent every single light leak. If you miss even the slightest gap you end up with a contrastless image when shooting in the 6-8 minute region. At least with this app that wouldn't be a concern on the shorter individual durations

the 16 stop bulb raw looks like trash compared to the ultra clean SR raw. The SR images have the "Too clean to be ND" look to them, as long as you dont get tripod movement, results are super clean.

I wonder if this app has the added benefit of removing unwanted people in the scene...as long as they are moving?

Im excited to try it out. Tomorrow is my first Saturday off work since early march so im having a few beers tonight. That's probably reduced my chances of getting up for sunrise to zero :)

Might try and catch a sunset though if weather permits and test the app out

I think it does, but cant say 100%

I was shooting at the pier and with a 10 stopper, you could see people streaking, but with SR, completely disappeared. So it was a combination of SR and filter.
