Awesome and Congrats!! :)

Thanks. I thought waiting for lenses or cameras is painful, but this type of waiting and GAS is definitely on another level haha.

I sure will post some pics here of it as i look almost as much forward to shooting it as driving it :)

Jannik Peters has posted on FM forums Batis 18 thread that his lens is decentered (the guy that also reviews on Philip Reeves site). Hope its just a one off and I dont have to play the lottery with QC issues :(

Yes I read that too. This is getting tiresome. Are we just extra picky or has quality control declined considerably?

When the Batis line was announced and they said they would be manufactured in Japan (instead of China like the DSLR Zeiss lenses) I thought QC was going to be top notch. Guess not.

My 25 and 85 seem fine. Im not going to test for decentering though in case I find something. Some things are best left alone

Eriet thanks.
Ours should be here next week.
If it makes it before the 9th it's going on the trip--Poof will use it on the a6300.
I'm still taking the 70-400gii for use on the a7Rii-tried and proven in Costa Rica.
The guy did an ok initial review but the pics were so-so, nothing against the lens, just
I wasn't moved by his subject matter--that and I just woke up and am a bit grumpy :)
I'm not loosing the 70-200, in my mind its just too good. The FE 70-300 may or may not
stay. I'll know after three weeks abroad with it.

Iceland, hmmmmmm.
Flight is in 9 days.
2 weeks in Iceland then a week in Svalbard.
Excited?
I keep asking myself if I'm a landscape guy.
I think you know I'd rather be imaging this-
https://www.flickr.com …/album-72157645282844411/ (external link)
or
https://www.flickr.com …/album-72157639067658694/ (external link)
But if I can get one or two of these
https://www.flickr.com …/album-72157639928047355/ (external link)
https://www.flickr.com …/album-72157639928047355/ (external link)
I'll be OK.
It's just that there are few animals there.
I do hope to image a Puffin, one on a cliff and one on my dinner plate!

Should be fun/exciting though weather wise, we check roads everyday--many are still closed/impassable/slick; so lots
of snow and ice still which I like.

We're using/living in a Durango 4x4 RV. That in itself should be a story.

But will be the lightest weight camera wise trip in a long time. Sony and mFT. NO EOS kit at all. Kind of funny the DXii
should be here next week and it's not even going :)

Now Svalbard should be very interesting. It should not be warmer than 20F any day we're there, but the odds of seeing
Walrus are good and that's the sole reason for going. If we can't find one in a week then shame on me.

I still can't believe you are going to Svalbard! Please tell me you are going to shoot Pyramiden. Many of us will be living vicariously through you!

The lenses are also hand inspected and come with a signed QC inspection card.

MedicineMan, it sounds like it's going to be a great trip, even if there won't be any lions there. :-) Looking forward to seeing images from there.

On another note,..

Brewed by the Victory Brewing Company in Downingtown Pennsylvania, this pilsner beer is rated as outstanding.

And guess what? I like it! ♥
