HOLY hell, a third party option finally. I still have my 67mm filters!

BTW typo on SAR, the 50mm is a 1.4!

Yeah. Seems like Samyang is swooping up this market while Sigma sits on their laurels. Either way, more choice for native lenses with AF is a win for us.

what's especially huge about this is that SY typically makes primes, and in this case it looks like it's optimized for the sony form factor rather than piggy backed dslr design (at least that's what the photo indicates based on size of an adapted SY 14).

going a step further, this can mean an AF 35 f1.4, 85 f1.4, or 135 f2 down the line. Heck I've got my eye on both these lenses, hoping they do away with the crappy 6 blade aperture, by far the worst aspect of SY lenses.

PERFECT example of why a 200mm FL lens was a go-to flower shooter for me... :(

Really miss having one...

Thanks a bunch, Kenji!

Interesting. I have to say I was hoping they would take an approach more like what they've been doing with their APSC mirrorless lenses though and make them as small and fast as possible. I'll be keeping my eye on them anyway though.

hey vinz, I gotta play with the GM, have it right now. Very impressed at how it handles spectacular highlights, like a champ. Contrast is fairly high wide open. AF noise a non issue, it sounds like a motor drive rather than metal. I've had a lens that sounded like this, just cant remember which one. Only tested eye focus on my daughter, drool worthy feature for this sort of lens.

How'd you manage to get your hands on one of these? :) I thought you were done changing your kit.

i bought it for jonathon. With the recent sy announcements, I'm eyeing that 14, looks a bit smaller than existing 14

50 lenses in less than 2.5 years. The lack of a solid roadmap has been frustrating, but it's been impressive what's been brought to the market in a relatively short span of time. We need a native 135!

I couldn't believe there were 50 emount lenses. Yeah still have some gaps like the 135. The SY 14 emount looks very interesting to me.

It's such a shame that the a7x line continues to be a total failure - where are the FE 800mm f/5.6 and 600mm f/4 GM lenses. Come on Sony - Pony up the big whites.

Kidding of course. 50 in 2.5 years is absolutely astonishing. And guess what...if anyone else decides to jump into the FF mirrorless market they'll have to go through the same process. Pretty amazing; way better than I expected or imagined.

They should make a 16-35mm f/2.8 GM imo.

YES... I'm getting pretty tired of hearing about new 50mm-ish lenses being released for e-mount. How is it so friggin hard to get a native 135?! Do the execs not see this gaping hole?
