Sony A7x lounge

Using Venus (again) on the A7Rii. Have discovered a neat and cheap way to diffuse the light coming off the Nissin i40. Speaking of the Nissin, it is great for macro'ing skittish bugs especially when you are in a contorted position because of it's weight and size. This Hornet was image in the wee hours-around 0330 and not moving terribly fast. I want to get several shots for a possible stack but couldn't hold the position I was in long enough without severely shaking (old muscles/joints). Again I think the Venus is fantastic on mirrorless-it has issues with DSLRs with the blackout. On this shot I did have to leave TTL and go manual at 1/8 power to get through the diffusion, even then I pulled almost 2 stops in LR but at least I didn't have major blowouts-

It's such a shame that the a7x line continues to be a total failure - where are the FE 800mm f/5.6 and 600mm f/4 GM lenses. Come on Sony - Pony up the big whites.

Lol those super telephoto lenses will come when the camera technology warrants it IMO. When you start mounting these super-telephoto lenses, the size advantages are completely gone and there need to be some significant advantages, and few dis-advantages, to get the sports and wildlife guys to care for the a7 cameras. It seems we're getting close though (a6300).

Yep. Unless when Canon brings their mirrorless bodies to market, they somehow figure out how to get the EF lenses to work on their bodies better than Sony has. If they figure that out, then they'll get a nice boost out of the gate. Dual pixel AF could be the key to this.

That why I'm keeping some of my Canon glass, if Canon ever gets a decent sensor, and cameras to compete with A7 series and A6x00 series, and they are better, who knows I might try them out.

Agree. A native 70-400mm or 100-400mm would be tremendous. Personally I prefer 100-400mm as the greater the zoom the greater the compromises.

I actually got mine shipped from Hong Kong a while back.
Gene has my studying the super wide angle macro. I think I will after I get over some recent purchases.

I have sign for objects routed to the hub as well. When I'm staying in the city it's 3 miles away.

Pay attention to how the 1DXII performs in live view, because if Canon puts their full effort into this mirrorless body they're developing, it should be consistent with that. The 1DXII, and any camera that inherits its sensor, should have more DR too, as they're using a similar on-chip DAC that the exmor sensors are using. We'll see how it pans out. Sony is still a generation ahead of Canon's sensors though...BSI design (a7rII) copper wiring (a7rII, a6300) and signal boosting (a7rII, a7s(II), and a6300) that give them more DR and better color fidelity throughout the entire ISO range. The high ISO performance of the a7rII and a6300 are probably the most under-rated features of each camera.

I'm done switching systems though..too expensive, and I suspect Sony and Canikon will simply leap-frog one another year over year. So long as Sony is in it for the long haul, (and they're doing well with the alpha cameras financially) I'm sticking with them for bodies. Lenses are always open to the best contender

Edit: also, dual pixel isn't exclusively a Canon thing. Sony supplies the camera sensor for the samsung galaxy s7 smartphone, which has a dual pixel AF system....

I would like to see Olympus join the full frame E-mount... they are patenting Full-frame lens designs, I just hope it would be E-mount.

Hey, you're asking for a lot of miracles dude. Plus, I don't see them adding IBIS to their cameras.

May 4th already in Europe, start posting those FE 50mm 1.8 samples!

According to B&H mine wont be delivered untill Monday since UPS doesn't deliver on weekends, such a bummer.
3 day shipping always turns to 6 days because I live on the west coast.

I wish we had a Adorama or B&H out here.

I'm interested with the FE50mm F1.8 until the Samyang/Rokinon announcement. I have to wait a little while.
