I'm interested with the FE50mm F1.8 until the Samyang/Rokinon announcement. I have to wait a little while.

I pre-ordered it two weeks ago, if I had heard about the Samyang back then I would have waited.
Oh well, I still have my Canon 1.2 anyways.

I am interested in the 14mm though!

What do you think the Samyang 14/2.8a ('a' for autofocus) will cost. I already have 3 Samyang 14mm's, might as well make it 4.
Imagine the go-to lens for wide field astro now with AF. A lens that will probably out perform the Batis 18 in sharpness and lack of coma
and be 1/2 the price....who couldn't be interested?

I have to admit that it's even peaked my interest. I bought the Rokinon 12mm for my X-E2 as my go-to for wide angle stuff and a little astro work this summer, which I haven't regretted for a moment... but I can only think about how much nicer the 14mm would be on the a7S for astro :)

Yeah my CV15 is looking less and less like it will stay in the bag. I love my Rok 8mm fish it is just fabulous. Put that in a 14 and auto focus at 2.8... um yeah.

course a cv15viii is probably not worth much now

Isn't the CV15 super tiny though? To me that would still make it worth having... but I'm a huge sucker for small lenses. My friend laughed at me last weekend when I was explaining to another photographer we met that my "big" camera was an a7S as I was shooting with my X-E2 at the time

Also, quick question since I can't find it in the menus; Can I set my aperture to full stop increments on my a7S? I realized the other day that part of why I love having an aperture ring is that it's so much faster and easier to just twist a ring from wide open to say f5.6 than it is to scroll that stupid dial, having my aperture in full stops would mitigate this gripe.

Yes. It is MUCH smaller than any SY or other similar lenses.
Only lenses in that size range are the old canon FD lenses (like the 24/2.8 or similar).

Forgot to ask if any besides me are expecting the FE 70-300 ?
B&H said available May 4th.
I'd like to play with it before our trip. It might displace the 70-400gii on the trip.
I know it's 99% landscape there but I might see a bird or fox and want a little reach.
The 70-300 is also much smaller (shorter than even the FE 70-200/4) and way llighter.

Really curious what you end up thinking of it. It's high on my list and would allow me to replace the canon 100-400 which is pretty much the only reason I still keep the 6D.
If the 70-300 performs well, it will replace both of those and I will finally have a Sony native solution on the long end.
Going to Yosemite this weekend (never been) but won't have it for this trip though.
Looking forward to hitting up some gorgeous landscapes though. Now I gotta narrow down the kit selection for the trip. Learning from previous "vacations", taking everything under the sun is a bad idea.
I'm kinda thinking I'll leave the primes at home and go with a simple selection:
- FE 24-70/4.
- EF 70-200/4
- EF 16-35/4
- CV 15 III

As opposed to my last vacation which was all about the small primes (but that ends up being too much fumbling around with different lenses in a rush).

Puckman. Interesting see the lenses you are taking to Yosemite because very very close to what I'm packing Sony-wise for Iceland!
EOS 24-70/4 + Metabones
FE 16-35/4
FE 70-200/4 is in Poof's (my she-boss) bag
FE 55/1.8 (why? because I've hardly every used the thing, I'll force myself on this trip)
I just don't have anything like your CV......now if Rokinon had that AF 14/2.8 out it might have made the cut.
I'll also have either the 70-400 or the 70-300.
I should know by this weekend.
I just looked again at B&H, says if you purchase within next so many hours ships today. My pre-order was weeks ago.

Let me know your thoughts on the 70-300. I'm considering that or the 70-200 F4 to replace my EF 70-200 2.8II.

Do we know what the max aperture is at various focal lengths yet?

Mystik only review I can find is here, he doesn't spell out Av at any FL.

Pictures are in my opinion lame...I think any of us on this thread could do better without trying very hard :)
But he does show two examples of close focus which are impressive for a zoom like this.
Steve Huff also has some pics up, again nothing to write about in the diary-
