Feet to the fire how often do I do anything wide angle? 2-3 times a year. Yeah we've got a wide angle trip coming up but
even the Rok 14/2.8auto would do the Maytag repairman most of the time.

More backyard practice time with the kiddos. Spent some time with the SAL 135 f1.8, but used AF via the LA-EA4, and shot wide open. I'd been using this as a MF lens, since I didn't find the LA-EA4 very accurate when I first tried it. The thing is, MF at f1.8 on a 135mm lens is effing hard to nail, so I find myself stopping down.

Gave AF via the LA-EA4 another shot, and it actually works pretty well even wide open. Face detect works, and its really accurate so long as you're firing only when you have positive confirmation of focus (green box). It's not anywhere as near as good as eye focus, which will lock onto the eyes so well that you don't have to think twice about focusing.....but it works better than I gave it credit for previously.

used MF here and its ever so slightly out of focus.

Going to give the Loxia 21mm a try...just placed an order.

Will be keeping the 16-35mm, but will be selling my 24-70L II and maybe even 70-200. Easy reason: just don't use them much. What can I say? I'm a WA junkie. Maybe I should get Batis 18 and 25 too. :p

I hear ya, but I'm keeping the 70-400gii even if keeping the 70-300 until a native e-mount 100-400, then things change.
BUT I'm just now getting the info that the a-mount 1.4TC works really well with the 70-400gii + LAEA-3, what? 560mm and then
throw in the A7Rii into crop mode for 784mm=crazy !! Can this be true that the a-mount TC plays nice with the LAEA-3?? I can find
just little hints here and there.
And you say behemoth. I agree but I shot with 1Div + 500mm couple days ago, just to remind myself behemoth is always relative. I really
wouldn't want a minke or blue whale laying on top of me.

I'm planning on selling off the 70-400, it's too big, and I often dont use it due to the size. WIll probably ebay it in a few days, too hard to sell that particular lens on the boards.

Looks like it's the season for change. I'm rethinking my gear too.

Off to Yosemite this weekend. Trying to decide on what to take. I always end up with too much gear.

But that aside, I'm reading great things about the just-released FE 70-300G. I'm thinking that's the final nail in the 6D coffin for me. I can probably order that and sell the 6D and 100-400L (only reason I kept those 2 was for the long range which Sony had no native answer to).

And now I'm seeing amazing things with the FE 24-70/2.8GM. So that's peaked my interest.
I think i'm ready to go all native, more or less.
I could ditch the ef 70-200/4 once the FE 70-300G takes that spot in the rotation.
I would also want to replace the Sigma 35/1.4 Art with the FE 35/1.4. The Sigma is very sharp, but it's big and requires an adapter, which makes it even bigger.
I'm tired of adapters.
I'll keep the CV 15 III. Irreplaceable lens.
And I'll probably keep the EF 16-35/4 for now.

I have another trip to AZ coming up in June. I missed my chance to get the 70-300G in before Yosemite. But I will have it for that AZ trip for sure.

Anyone else here interested in the FE 70-300G?

David if anyone needs a wide angle collection it's you.
Speaking of wide angle, well semi wide, last night I played with my 24mm Tilt-shift, the one that has sat on the shelf
for almost two years....me asking should it go on the trip? do I know anything about tilt-shift?
Then I remembered something about light leaks with the Metabones?
Just too many questions....

I think you are doing the smart thing. A-mount is dead. Long live the king. Once 'official' all lenses like the 70-400g will crash in value don't you think? so you e-baying it off now might be the smart move.

First: yeah just leave it at home. I'm a bit of a narrow-minded snob about the TS-E wide angles: personally I think they're perfect for architecture. You're not shooting architecture so you don't need it.

Light leak isn't the problem. Internal reflections via the adapter is the problem. For some reason the TS-Es are more prone to it...I don't have the problem much with other lenses. Also as Eddie (xpfloyd) has well-documented, the TS-E 24L II is quite compromised on the a7R II unless you start fiddling with shimming the adapter. Way too fussy for my interests.

Thanks brother, just saved me 2 pounds :)

But I do remember once with the A7R taking 3 shots tilted down, 3 shots in the middle, 3 shots tilted up, then using LR to put them all together for a very large detailed image.

I wish I could afford to take the 70-200 off your hands...that is one thing I lack at all...something longer than 85mm...

Last one from last week...then its off on the next adventure to the Smokies this weekend...

Thanks. I have to say...the camera has something to do with it...it keeps up with my creative side in a way that I felt inhibited before...

I really wish that my local rental place would start to carry the Zeiss line...so that I can try them out...the 18 would be fun to play with...this weekend I am taking 3 wide angles with me...Canon 14LII, 17-40L and the Sigma 20ART...yeah, I am a wide angle kinda guy...:-D
