Sony A7x lounge

I'm already planning to ditch the A7Rii.....just a matter of time before it inherits the skill set of the a6300 and becomes the A7Riii.
I just never understood the appeal of the 5Ds/r, poor DR, poor high ISO, just bunches of megapixels-but maybe I missed something.
I do know it has a great AF because I saw it on many a big white at Conowingo imaging eagles--and there I can see huge cropability
coming into play.

Yep, you missed something.

It does not have "poor DR and poor high ISO." Not as good as a7R II, but that doesn't make it poor.

If the 5DS R was poor I assure you I would not have been so conflicted all these months.

Fred has a comparison between Batis 18 and Loxia 21. Both look very good, but Loxia looks a tad sharper and has a bit better contrast. Just hope I score a good Loxia since the qc on those is so suspect.

About to head out to Yosemite tomorrow morning. The forecast calls for 4 days of rain. Just my luck. I'm kinda hoping that it's mild enough rain that I can still shoot in it.
As I mentioned last night, really curious about the FE 70-300. Do share your thoughts ASAP.

kids are just a temporary excuse, the lust will creep up again, I've got 4 kids, and cant quite control my gear lust, however this year is much more calm than last year. Since I havent been shooting much, I've been focusing my photography efforts on social media, been tinkering with instagram a bit, and about to drop flickr..... It's been a reinvigorating experience. It's like in one day there, I have as much interaction as I do with flickr in a whole year

I'm kinda curious what you mean about this whole Instagram thing. Care to elaborate?

I kinda hate to hear that. Mentioned earlier several big boys using the 5Dsr on big whites shooting eagles and now that body
is in the back of my mind. I really don't need the 7Dii or the 1Div now so you know where my mind is going. I've seen the cropability
of the A7Rii and I know the 5Dsr is even more. Well let's see if I survive this trip before going down that road any further....

Puckman UPS tracking shows less than 100 miles from my local UPS hub now. I'll have it in hand this afternoon...will post something but as mentioned prior the weather here is total crap--7 days of it now. Just wish it had a tripod mount already.

Ok. Done packing for Yosemite. I've never been there. And I'm sorta bummed the weather is going to be rain the whole time we're there. But it's close enough I can go back (5 hour drive).
I ended up packing everything under the sun, as usual.
A7Rii, FE 24-70, FE 55, FE 90 Macro, EF 70-200/4, EF 16-35/4, CV 15.
Plus, I ended up deciding to take the 6D and the 100-400 in case we spot any bears or other wildlife.
It's this latter 2 items I hope to replace for good once I'm satisfied the 70-300G does the trick.
I'm also packing the DJI quadcopter, 3 tripods (the big one, when no hiking is involved, the travel one for when hiking is involved, and the GorillaPod, just in case).

There's more photography equipment in the back of the Jeep then there are clothes.

ahh Yosemite. long ago I had a cheap toy film camera and took a roll's worth. pictures came out decent and friends complimented on the pics. the start of my interest :P

be warn of food in vehicles and or tents. ALL FOOD SHOULD GO INTO THE BEAR SAFE storage bin. are you camping or staying in hotel? I remember a bear ripped into someone's convertible looking for food. safe trip and enjoy

UPS shows the FE 50mm 15 minutes away so hopefully I'll have it today! The expected delivery was monday so this was a great surprise.

Thanks. I appreciate that. Hoping to get out and find some spring greens and mossy rocks tomorrow...then more clear skies tomorrow night for another all night Milky Way shoot.

Package didnt move one bit in the past 14 hours, called ups and they said they're not delivering it until monday.

This is so frustrating, it is literally in the city right next to me and I have to wait 3 extra days to get it.

Asked if I could just drive there and pick it up, they said its agaisnt their policy and they have to make at least one delivery attempt.

typical, I had a case where fedex held on to my package for 2 business days, because they said "package is not due for delivery yet"

I know fedex does it, but this is the first time UPS has ever done it to me. I could understand if it was ground shipping, but it is not. It is expidient and I know people who live next to B&H get their stuff in 1 day, they don't make them wait the full 3 days.

Should have just paid extra for 2 day delivery. Rant over .
