Jury is still out David.
1. it was not what I wanted. I wanted 100-400mm or 400mm or 70-400 e-mount. So I think I was predisposed to not love it.
2. NO freaking tripod mount....not just for a tripod/monopod but I put a Kirk Security strap onto tripod plates for carry of almost all my
long lenses. Luckily it's a solid lens but (plastic construction, nothing against plastic though) not horribly heavy.
Now what matters-
IQ is good to my eye and the Bluebird was a gargantuan (probably 90%) crop. So it is sharp enough.
Zoom ring is smooth. Focus is fast.
And of course all focus modes.
Just wish I'd had another hour with it, time crunch getting pack up and I'm still working up to day of flight. It's going on the trip though so
after 23 days with it I'll know, but it will spend most of its time on the a6300 when needed. I've decided also to take the tried/true never let
me down 70-400gii.
Forgot to mention. If I were you I'd rent first when Roger Cicala gets one in.
