Any suggestions as to which lenses you might recommend? To keep things simple, I could just bring my FE 16-35 f4 and FE 24-70 f4 lenses. Or instead, I may bring my Batis 25 f2 and since I don't have either Batis 85 f1.8 or FE 85 f1.4GM, I may grab my Canon 85 f1.8 + Metabones. Do you think either set of two lenses will be sufficient? I got more use out of my EF 70-200 2.8L II than any other lens. It allowed me to isolate re-enactors from the background when I was shooting WWII action. This may be the excuse I need to get the FE 85 f 1.4 GM lens though. Hmmm Gene - My Photo Gallery ||

There's a lowly rated rumor on SAR now of someone spotting a prototype a9 out in the wild. Dual card slots, 72mp JPEG, but with an AF joystick. Slightly bigger body which I wouldn't mind. Looking back at files I do miss the a7rII. Silly me sold it to chase after another camera but now I want it back. But I'm resisting for now because I'm reminded of the few things I didn't care for (slow AF movement, sluggish write speed, single card slot). If what reported is true with dual card slots (makes mobile workflow easier for me), a AF joystick and reported XQD slots then I'm excited. Don't think I need want 72mp files, but that means 32 mp files in crop mode which basically means you can have a FF and a APS-C in one body. For me the limit would be say $4,000. I paid $3,298 for the a7rII which was the most I ever spent on a body. If it's priced like the 1DX or D5 then I'm definitely out. I think the a7rII is fine for what it is: A high megapixel body optimized for IQ above all else. I think now more than ever we're starting to see that you really can't have a camera that does it all (i.e. can't have high resolution AND speed)...and those that try, are very expensive while coming still up short in one area or another. focalpointsphoto.com

In lieu of a 72mp a9, I'm honestly more interested to see what they'll do with the a7III. If the a7rII was positioned to take on the 5Ds, my hope is that the a7III will be positioned to take on the 5DIV. 20ish MP body, back-side illuminated sensor, high frame rate, a6300 AF system and EVF. Really fast camera with high ISO performance that surpasses the a7rII and perhaps even the a7s. I'd gladly add that as an additional body to my kit, though I'm starting to think the a6300's sensor is so good that it might fit the bill. Dual card slots would be nice. I've never had a card fail on me, but a little extra piece of mind never hurts. For me dual card slots is less about redundacy as it is convenience. With bodies with two card slots I shot RAW to one and JPEG to another. It enabled me to transfer the JPEGs to my iPad mini using the camera connection kit without having to copy the RAW files. With the a7rII having to copy both raw and jpegs together really limited the amount of files I could transfer over at one time. Of course if they move to XQD then I'll have to see if that's still a viable option. Even if they had used UHS-II cards it would've been better, but only having UHS-I capability can slow it down. Current Gear: Sony RX1RII

Ah yeah that makes sense. But you could transfer via wifi or NFC to your smartphone too. It will send them over as JPEGs. I usually do this for shots I want to send to me phone or quickly message to my people so they can post the photos themselves. I use NFC for single shots, and wifi for batches of photos I want to transfer to my phone. focalpointsphoto.com

Oh yeah, card speed too. 72 mp will yield 32 in crop and I would imagine maybe a smaller raw size option would be available. Current Gear: Sony RX1RII
