Ha, I'm personally hoping for Sony to turn into Canon for just a while. You know: stop innovating and just make incremental upgrades. That way I can stay happy with my stuff. :p

Seriously, I would prefer if they would put some serious time in before the next upgrade.

Astro weekend was a bust..... First night was cold... 20 degrees and snowed. Second night .... clouds ... no wait there are stars... no now clouds ... wait is that my lens with 2" of frost on it???? no wonder I cant focus. Then I crashed in the Yurt and dropped the 6300 and case now is not connected by the battery door. Then last night.... clouds.

So when in Arizona we hit some back up plans.... Grand Canyon, Sedona

Met Frank Ruggles... Army Ranger, Nat Geo photog, National Park Service Photog 2006 to 2013 and now re applied to the job. Turned out to be a really cool guy. Oh and Jamie McDonald from Mirrorles Minutes was there too

Here are a few of the pics

if sony wants to play with the big boys which it seems they do then they will have to do a whole lot to make the majority switch over, the r2 is well on its way to converting many people but theres still a long ways to go to convert the majority,if they stop innovating now when they only have a small percentage of the users converted another manufacturer will be waiting to take those people, FUJI,,, they are hot on the heals of sony with innovation and if sony loses any ground by staying stagnant they will take that oporutinty to gladly convert the users that are on the fence to go mirror less.

i only hope with all the new innovation that they don't forget about the models that got them to where they are today, the a7 started the ball rolling and i for one was pretty disappointed to see a new update for my cam hoping it would be uncompressed raw only to find it was basically an update to allow the a7 to play well with new native lenses,i hope they will release a new update with uncompressed raw,its only a software feature so I'm pretty sure they can,if they do that it will prove they care about how they got to where they are today.

I can't imagine needing an A9, but if it had a built-in a-mount converter I would probably at least look at it.

As soon as the a7rii goes sub-$1800 it will be my next upgrade. Not that I really need it, still love my a7r/a6000 duo.

I'm on the opposite end hoping for an a6 of sorts with some smaller (even if slower) prime lenses :) I would love my a7S sensor in a body more like my X-E2.

My first try making a fried egg sandwich using one of those silicone rings to hold the egg in shape. Worked pretty good I thought...tasted great too.

Finally got around to processing some Yosemite landscape shots.

The iconic tunnel view...

I have about a dozen more versions of this shot (wider, pano, different lenses). I'll mete them out here in short order and see which one turns out to be the favorite.

This one's with the EF 70-200/4 IS @70mm.

Sony A7RII and a bunch of lenses.

Sorry to hear your astro weekend got clouded out...mine sorta did too! We had clear skies from about 3PM until about 2330...then the clouds rolled in and obscured the skies, needless to say I was bummed out by it...after close to 10 miles hiking, much of it in the dark.

I shot a star trails shot that got screwed up mid sequence, i hit the shutter button on my remote and canceled a frame, so that left a gap in the trails...

I did get this image that I liked, as the clouds started to come in.

sigh the GAS is strong with this one.

Amazon has a warehouse deal on the 85GM for a little over $1,500 so I pulled the trigger (there are a couple more there if anyone else is interested). Not really sold on the lens, but I am curious to try it out since the bokeh seems really nice and there are times where I haven't been happy with the Batis 85's bokeh. If it doesn't work out, I send it back to the amazon warehouse pool.

Will test it against the Batis 85, and SAL 135 this weekend.

I found one for $1573.xx on there, not bad!

I'm definitely interested in your thoughts on it vs the Batis once you use it a bit.

Yeah I'm a fan for amazon warehouse deals. Big discounts on stuff that's practically brand new.

Will test the lens this wknd. Also have a bunch of shoots the following weekend to really put it through its paces.
