sigh the GAS is strong with this one.

Amazon has a warehouse deal on the 85GM for a little over $1,500 so I pulled the trigger (there are a couple more there if anyone else is interested). Not really sold on the lens, but I am curious to try it out since the bokeh seems really nice and there are times where I haven't been happy with the Batis 85's bokeh. If it doesn't work out, I send it back to the amazon warehouse pool.

Will test it against the Batis 85, and SAL 135 this weekend.

good thing for the tax otherwise I would have pulled the trigger already

I must admit i have discovered a different and new way of GAS. I want some nice rims for my new car, want to add a spoiler lip, racing exhausts, wheel spacers for my rear wheels, foil for the roof in black, rear bumper diffuser...... :-|

Luckily i am happy with my photography gear so i can build up on my car for the next few months.

Hah congrats on the ride man. That was me in late 90's/early 00's. Maybe one day, but for now all of my car need to be family haulers.

That's a very very good price, especially if you didn't even have to pay tax. Congratulations Carlo!

For anyone else who is interested in a brand new 85GM, I still have 1 left! Feel free to shoot me a PM.

Totally understandable. I mean I am 23 years old and saved enough to get myself a really nice sports car, so i thought why not? When will i be able to drive such a car in my life? When i got family im surely not spending out that cash for a car. Other priorities as soon as one got kids i might imagine. And when the kids leave the house when im in my 50 or 60ies i dont think i would have enough lust for such a car anymore and would regret i didnt do it now

if you havent seen already, Voigtlander 10mm on preorder, $899. Previous speculation of much higher price did not turn to be true:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com …yper_wide_10mm_f_5_6.html (external link)

10mm is insanely wide, however unlike the 12 and 15, I dont think this will take filters.

Yes totally do it now man. My eldest had just been born (whoops) when I first started making money so the sports car thing hasn't happened for me....yet.

Get your traveling done now too.

Funny thing is I gave this advice to a friend who was about to get engaged...he bought a Corvette the following week, and proposed shortly afterwards lol.

One thing many friends told me was to instead of buying an expensive car just use the money for travelling. But ive been to 20 different countries around the globe already so I already have seen something (compared to my friends). Im definitely not over travelling and there are far too many places i need to visit, or want to visit again :)

Lol, he did it the right way round :p

I'd give similar advice. Experiences over "stuff" for sure. Of course travel for me these days is trips disney...like 1 or 2 times a year lol. Stupid expensive but good experiences for the kids. When they get older, I'd like to take more 'cultured' trips. My eldest already has serious wanderlust....but disney is easiest for now while the babies are babies.

My "weekend" car I've had almost 20 years since 1996. I bought my house in 99, got married in 03, baby girl 04, boy 05, divorced 2013 and I've still got the same "weekend" car :)

Instead of buying expensive cars I just buy used ones that used to be expensive  My last car was an '03 BMW 330i ZHP, $48k sticker price back then, I got it for $10k and it was great :) Now I've got a 1st gen Mini Cooper S and I adore it... it's definitely going to put a hole in my bank account with all the plans I have for it

My problem is I have way too many hobbies that cost way too much money... :(
