Got some new goodies today.

First thing is the Mindshift Gear Filter Hive. This thing is awesome! Fits all my filters (3 100x400mm GNDs, 2 100mm square NDs, 1 77mm round ND, and 4 CPLs) in a nice color coded pouch. Finally am able to dispose of individual containers.

Actually there is one filter that also came today that doesn't fit inside the Filter Hive, it's my new Haida 105mm CPL for my Lee filter system. I also got in a 6-stop and 10-stop 100mm square Haida filters. Special thanks to Charlie for frequently recommending Haida. With the SR app I don't anticipate using the 10-stop with the a7R II, but it is needed for the 5DSR.

The Haida 105mm CPL clips just enough to darken the extreme corners at 16mm, but by 17 or 18mm the vignette is completely gone. It could probably be cleared up 100% @ 16mm by removing another slot from the filter holder (it is currently configured with two slots). But, it's so easy enough to correct in post, that I'm going to leave it as is. Short answer: totally usable @16mm.

Also newish (from last month) is my new day pack. I went with the Mindshift Gear Backlight 26L:

The Filter Hive nests neatly inside. A couple more goodies are coming Monday that will go inside the pack as well: a RRS pocket pod (external link) and multi clamp (external link). Elia Locardi to blame for those. In his Cityscape Photography training series he used both to great advantage and, naturally, I just had to get them for myself. :)

Looks great David. Does the bag come in other colors? That pocket pod would have been so handy on my recent trip. Will check it out.

Bag also comes in a nice charcoal gray as well.

BTW I ordered my pocket pod with their BH 25 ballhead instead of the new little BC-18 in the video. The pocket pod itself is crazy strong; has like a 100 lbs. weight capacity. The ballhead is the weak link with an 8 lbs. capacity. Plenty for me.

That's a great bag. I bought the FirstLight 20L hoping to hold all my gear, but with Mirrorless gear being so small, it'd literally cost me tens of thousands worth of lenses to fill it. It's been sitting in my closet since trying to get sold, lol.

Finally got around to trying the SR app. Not the best sky for it tonight (not enough clouds). Absolutely amazed at the DR with the camera.

EF 16-35mm f/4L IS with 3-stops ND and 3-stop GND at 64 SR clicks:

Very nice stuff David!

I have been searching for a bag to replace my too-big LowePro. This seems like it might be the right size for me. Will have to check it out.
I also need to order a replacement for my Lee foundation kit. I stupidly sold it thinking I wanted to go with all screw-on filters. After the Yosemite trip, I came to the conclusion that it was too much work to screw/unscrew my NDs from one lens to another (often having to also add a step-up ring, since half my lenses are 67mm and the other half are 77mm).

The good news is that I had not sold my Haida ND square filters. So I'll go right back to using those.
Love Haida.

And a couple more shots from the tunnel view before I move on to something different:

The first is taken with the Sigma 35/1.4. What a great sharp lens for landscapes!
The 2nd is taken with the M-mount CV 15 III.

Yosemite shots looking great!

Order up a replacement for your Lee Foundation kit from The Filter Dude (external link). I ordered the accessory ring (for the CPL) as well as three wide-angle adapter rings for some of my lenses and I am impressed. Great quality, superb service, and nice low prices. Can't remember who here to thank for recommending them...whoever you are: Thank you!

Dean, the Yosemite tunnel shots look great. With those clouds, I would try maybe a black and white conversion.

First contribution from my Maui trip. If you guys ever get the chance to go, please go! The scenes are breathtaking and diverse. You have the gorgeous beaches, incredible coastlines, rain forests, mountains, and more. We had about 3 days of bad weather with strong rain but that didn't stop us from getting out there with my wife and 3 year old to enjoy the island.

Northern coastline as the sun was trying to break free through the clouds.

Yeah, my dad loaned it to me a while back and I sort of forgot I had it... I really should play with it more, I never do any sort of macro, those shots were wide open too.

Gorgeous. Planning a Maui trip in November. I'm stoked!

More Yosemite shots coming up.. And yes. There will be B&W.

The Filter Dude will be my destination for the replacement foundation kit. Thanks for reminding me of that, David.
