Sunrise from this morning. Never done a slow-shutter shot like this before.

Seriously. I was just thinking the same thing, Charlie, looking at Carlo's shots. That bokeh is probably the best I've seen in a long while!
I was sorta considering getting the Batis 85, but seeing this, I'm not sure I even want to bother with the Batis.

Sony A7RII and a bunch of lenses.

The Batis is worth considering Nadim. It holds its own against the GM in a lot of ways. I've got a running comparison thread going. Will update over the next couple of days. There are differences, but the two are more similar than I expected:

I used to asked my friends to share my work. None of them fu***ing care. There's one or two sometimes. That's why i wanted to try the fb ads. I guess i just have to hashtags all my postings.

Hashtags are pretty crucial in my opinion. Take a look at popular photography/portrait pictures on instagram and note down which hashtags they use.

To be honest, I'm not that impressed by the background obliteration. I guess a 135mm F/2 lens is needed for really awesome background obliteration.

Remember how we're always complaining about the sample variation of FE lenses? Well, the FE 50mm F/1.8 seems to be a winner in this regard...

This is the portion of the test where I just expected Sony to not compare very well. But guess what? The copy-to-copy variation on the FE 50mm f/1.8 is superbly low. Remember, the Canon 50mm f/1.8 STM is the standard against which all other lenses are measured. It’s amazingly consistent. The Sony is very close to that. In some ways (center sharpness variation) it’s actually a bit better. So hat’s off to Sony, they’ve made an FE lens that from a copy-to-copy variation standpoint is as good as anything on the market.

That sucks man. Filipino community? If it is then yeah.... filipino crab mentality.

hash tags on instagram go a long way. I resisted it for a while but very recently jumped on it...especially since they got rid of the stupid square aspect ratio. Since IG is a photo oriented network, you tend to get more love over there.

unfortunately yes filipino community. thanks. i will.

So I was with 2 Olympus Visionaries and http://frankleeruggles.photoshelter.com/index (external link) this last weekend. They are not portrait guys but in asking them about the business it is all about self promotion via instagram twitter facebook etc. They all told me when you post a pic dont post more than one or two but put a story to the face and it will be recognized and shared much more. I think this all blends over to what you do. And I havent replied earlier but I think your work is great and looking back over time you have really grown as a photog. It wont be an easy transition but I think for you well worth it in the end. Just promote promote promote. You have the talent!

Thanks for the idea. I will start doing the same.
