My wife just came home from work and said she wants us to go to Iceland in October/November this year. My ultimate photo destination that I haven't been to before and have wanted to forever. Can't actually believe it, might finally get to see and photograph the aurora borrealis

Woohoo! Book those tickets now so she can't change her mind.

Gene, that's a tough choice. Maybe go with the 16-35, the Batis 25, 55 and 90?

Here I'm all primed up and can't decide what to bring with me this weekend. I plan on shooting Civil War Re-enacters at the local RR Museum and figure I'll want to shoot mostly individuals or small groups.

I don't want to take more than three lenses and my first thoughts are they should be my Canon 85 f 1.8 for close ups, the FE 55 f 1.8 for individuals or small groups and the Batis 25 f2 for more wide shots of 'camp life' and 'battles'.

Now I'm wondering if my FE 90 f2.8 might be a better choice than the Canon 85 due to eye AF. I don't know if I should even bring a 35mm lens since I thought I'd bring the 25mm for the wide stuff.

But then, I could really simplify things by just bringing my FE 16-35 & 24-70 + the FE 90 f2.8 for portrait type shots.

Any suggestions welcome.

Civil War? Team Cap or Iron man? ;-)a

Will you have time to switch lenses or will there be a need to switch often?

If so, I've always liked your portraits on the FE90. And the 25 is a nice little documentary lens.

By any chance is it the Perris one? I randomly stopped there the other day. It was so great, I wasn't expecting to like it much since I've never been into trains that all changed that day! Still have to develop the film I shot there.

Alex, yep, that's the one. It's at the Orange Empire RR Museum in Perris and one of my favorite places to shoot. As a bonus, the steam locomotive will be running this weekend too! :-)

Good enough of a friend to let you drive every once in a while? ;-)a

Wouldn't be the first time lol

Indeed ;) He won't let me drive it like I drive my Mini though  It's no doubt a fast car, but I don't know that I'd ever buy one... it doesn't have as much tactile feedback as other cars in the same price bracket (though it's usually faster).

For instance, I'd rather have this 750hp 370z...

lens porn!!

I would think longer for the actions and obvious reach but the two zooms + 90 would be ideal to me. I've never gone to a civil war event before but I did go to a renaissance fair and would use 70-200 and wished I had a wide zoom.

here's an album from one of the people I follow. some nice pp work done. but overall just some pics for you to get an idea of what you may want to bring.

Thanks for the link. Too bad the lenses used weren't given but I like the shallow DOF used.

I have no idea what you mean by 'team cap' or 'iron man' Carlo. -? Thanks for the lens suggestions though, those sound like a good combination.

That's a nice Z. And nice shots BTW.

My brother manages the valet in the Cosmo in Vegas...so he's driven all sorts of cars. He had similar sentiments about the GT-R. My dream car would actually be the R34 GT-R :-)

I really enjoyed the movie. I wouldn't say its necessary to watch the other marvel films, but they give more context and significance to the conflict and you can understand why the characters have taken the positions they have. Very cool that marvel built a cohesive cinematic universe where the movies tie-into and impact one another.

Miss me ???
Haha :)
So far the trip is going well. Some snafu's here and there but in 8 day so far only a total of 1.5 hours of rain. Day 2 the 4x4 RV had a wheel bearing go kaput and that sacked us for a day but that day was completely overcast/fogged in. The other 7 days (knock on wood) have been wonderful....even warm if you can call 45F warm....well it all has to do with the wind and when the Sun is shining (and it has been 85% of the trip) then the cold is more tolerable. But you know Iceland is cold and windy before you sign up for this kind of trip so we were prepared. Anyway here is a shot from the other day (so far the A7Rii has wracked up 2200 images, the GX8 almost 2000, and there are 3 more cameras to go through tonight....) 6 more days here then off to Norway.

If it has to be a sports car and money is no problem, my first choice would be the Bugatti Chiron (external link) or Veyron (external link). :-P
