Both the shot above and below were taken with the Loxia 21 handheld

I just went ahead and left IS to see if it comes out ok. Seemed ok (sharp) with 16-35, but 200mm could be problematic.

Wait. That's confusing me. Mine doesn't let me take the shot period. It's says to turn off steadyshot and prevents me from taking the shot.

Is that not what you see?

Must be a metabones thing. I've used smooth reflections with canon and viltrox only. Metabones stays on the 135, viltrox for everything else. Try it in advance mode?

I'll experiment with both adapters when I get home. Going out to the railroad museum tomorrow (where Gene was today).

Yes, that's what I see until I switch IS back on at the lens. Then it lets me take the shot because it (incorrectly) thinks IS is off.

Last one for the night. The sugar cane fields in Maui are so lush. I loved seeing the green from the canes against the blue sky. There was nice golden light this morning as were heading up to see a lavendar farm in upcountry. I have some pano shots that I'm working on but this one caught my eye with the clouds and light on the sugar cane field.

Loxia 21 again handheld from the top of my Jeep rental.

Yup. Sure enough, the Fotodiox adapter does not have this problem.
The Metabones works if I turn IS ON on the lens. Weird.

Hey Gene,

What lenses did you end up taking to the RR museum? And how did they work for you?
We're planning to go there tomorrow and I want to travel light, but make sure I have the right lenses for the job.
I'm not planning on carrying a tripod around, if that helps.

Thoughts?

I wound up only taking the Canon 85 f1.8 and the Sigma 35 f1.4, my two fastest lenses. My reasoning was that I wanted to shoot more portrait type images and so wanted to keep the backgrounds blurred as much as possible. For the battle scenes, I could have used my 70-200 but the 85 worked OK thanks to being able to crop so much. There were a couple of guys with 100-400 lenses there from a local camera club to get shots from the battle. I'll probably edit and post a couple more of the battle I took today.

I probably used both lenses about equally. Too bad I didn't have a 35-85ish f1.4 zoom lens, I'd a been a happy camper. ;-)a

I think you'll enjoy the visit. Don't forget to get shots of the steam locomotive that will be running today as well. Wish I could record the sounds of her steam whistle blowing along with the photographs...it sounds awesome.

Here's the train going by one of the encampments.

Great parenting Vinz. Kudos to you and the Mrs.
I debated on taking the a-mount 70-400gii, glad I did, it and the EOS 24-70/4 have spent a lot of time, the lion's share in fact, on the Rii.
We finished day 10 today. Out of ten days 6 have been wonderful weather, one crap day, and a half a day total of rain/sleet/hail but no snow. For this shot it was almost shirtsleeve weather and calm seas-a big rarity in the seas north of Iceland this time of year. We saw three Humpacks and my first ever Gannet, though the Gannet was distant.
So post the wave off the coast of the Jokulsarlon Lagoon drenching me and the Rii, it continued to shoot all day. Only thing remiss, I didn't have a hotshoe cover in place........

So how did the camera do--survived the splash?

those are quite pretty but i myself am a truck guy,i have toys and i haul stuff so a truck is a must. to me the first gen dodges with the cummins were damn sexy:-)
people underate the cummins 5.9l its a inline 6 cylinder engine thats capable of well over 1000hp on fuel alone, theres a million clips of the 8000lb truck smoking the doors off c5 corvettes and vipers. cummins are no joke. mine will haul my 28ft 5th wheel up any hill at 60mph no problem and I've left my share of hondas in the dust:lol: not to bad for 20mpg and a 4 door long box:-D

One of those Dodge Cummins pickups fooled me at a light back when I was riding a BMW K100RS. Had I known I was in a drag race, I might have given the driver more competition.

Boats move! Haha on me. I was out late around midnight scouting Husavik for night time shots....I moved around the little town snapping away and got noticed and followed back to the room by the local police---in a town that small I drew attention :)
But boats move. I never realized they are not really tied down tight---so if you pixel peep you'll see movement.
Gene I should have tried the trick you told me about and did think about it but the lights didn't move. I guess I could have layered and then blended but sometimes good enough and close enough is OK with me-
