We brought back home over 19K files -pics and vids- I think I could load landscapes
until the cows come home but I'm already tiring of them :(
Anyway, the PZ 18-200 wouldn't be tops on anyones landscape lens list but it's what
I had on at the time-

What's the final verdict on the MC-11 by Sigma? I haven't heard much lately, but I thought about getting one since the metabones is worthless on the original a7.

Do you have to use art lenses?
How is the focus with older non-art lenses?
Focus with canon lenses shorter than 200mm?

I hope you guys were able to fade some of that rain yesterday. There is so little quarter from it in MK!

Great capture Carlo, was that a bracketed shot by chance?

1) Sigma only supports the new A, C, S lenses
2) Anything else depends completely on luck, it might work, but with next firmware update is can be completely broken, and Sigma stated that if unsupported lens stops working they will not issue updates to fix it.
3) it will focus with some Canon lenses and older sigma lenses, but look at point above, if it stops with future updates your SOL.
4) For me it worked faster and more accurately with Canon 24-70 II then it did with Sigma Art 35
5) they released a firmware updated recently to fix AF-C
6) Others claim that Canon lenses will crash the adapter in AF-C mode, it worked for me
7) supported lenses have all AF options
8) unsupported lenses (if they work), have AF-S and AF-C

We've discussed the lack of fast e-mount primes past 90mm here a bit in the past, so I figured it would be of interest to some that there is a SR4 rumor (external link) floating around that Sony is going to refresh the A-mount 135/1.8 to include SSM and weather sealing. It may not be a big deal to most here, but if true, it would be a coup to those who don't like using the LA-EA4 on our mirrorless cameras.

I have no doubt that Sony would price this somewhere in the early $2k range.

awesome thanx for the info,i was on the fence for one of these,it looks like the techart is the only model worth anything for the original a7/r. wish i didn't hear so much negative about build quality. it sounds like the only lens that releases all the features.

I wish Sony would make a new adapter that combines EA3 and EA4.

With new bodies having on sensor phase detection the mirror in EA4 is not needed any more.

EA3 is limited to:
Focus Modes:

AF-C, AF-S, Manual Focus

Focus Areas:

Wide, Center, Flexible Spot

Misc:

Face Detection: Yes
Eye-AF: No
Center Lock-On AF: No

While EA4 supposedly supports:
Focus Modes:

AF-C, AF-A, AF-S, DMF, Manual Focus

Focus Areas:

Wide, Center, Flexible Spot, Lock-On AF

Misc:

Face Detection: Yes
Eye-AF: No
Center Lock-On AF: Yes

Sony should be able to make a new adapter that can drive older lenses that require body with a motor and, they should be able to support all the focus modes including lock-on AF, Eye-AF on their own Alpha lenses if Sigma can add Eye-AF to their lenses, Sony should be able to do with with their Alpha lenses.

It was pretty bad in the morning but cleared up nicely I. The latter part of the day. Hot though.

Thanks gene. It was a single exposure. Sun was too my back so not too much contrast to contend with.

It is just a rumor, so grain of salt.

It is possible that Sony is doing with adapters what Canon did with bodies for years--holding back tech so it doesn't cannibalize existing products at a higher price point.

Good thing about statues. They don't squint when the sun is in their face.
