Ive noticed an issue with my a6300 files. I updated lightroom so that the RAWs could be read but now when I right click and choose "open in photoshop" photoshop opens but the image doesnt appear. My A7RII files are fine, its just the a6300.

Its as if they are not compatible in photoshop? Anyone else had this?

When I opened my first a6300 raw file in PS, it wasn't recognized either. I did a search and found I needed to update the Adobe Raw Converter. With the newest version of 9.6, the a6300 raw files opened fine after that.

Wow. Looks like you guys have been busy while I was out!

I am, going to skip the CV 10, the price increase doesnt fly with me, went from 899 to 999 to 1099..... I dont think it's worth that much, so I'll pass. The samyang looks to very good optically, will just have to make due with such a narrow 14mm :p

I'm thinking exactly the same. Going to hold off for now and see where the chips fall in a few weeks.

navydoc wrote in post #18035277 (external link)
For the curious among you, here is what the FE 85 f1.4 lens looks like mounted on the a6300. That makes an effective 127.5mm f1.4 field of view.

That looks like it would make a fantastic 135/2 substitute.

David Arbogast wrote in post #18035283 (external link)
Cool! 8-) But, how it looks on the camera isn't what is making me curious. What is making curious is wondering if it can simulate a 135mm(ish) f/2 when shooting it at f/1.4 on the 6300.

My thoughts exactly.
Not only that, but instead of thinking about the CV 10, I'm getting more and more intrigued by the idea of a 6300 to complement my A7RII.
Might do that if I sell the 6D and a few other things.

Charlie wrote in post #18035298 (external link)
You've got the most horrible first world problem :p

Seriously. That's like me and my Batis 18 and 25 landing within a few days of each other...And me not having had a chance to shoot the 25 yet.

I DO!!!!! its called...... If the wife ever looked at my business credit card she would Kill me. Thats my first world problem. She is going to be out of the house Sat so I am going to shoot all the pics of the things I was supposed to sell BEFORE getting this stuff and get it on EBAY quick to pay everything off.

I'm doing exactly this right now. Going to start with the EF 16-35 and the FE 24-70. Both haven't really been used much.
The 6D body is going too.

Here's a test of bokah produced using the FE 85 f1.4 lens wide open on the a6300.

(I didn't have a real model to shoot so I used a yard gnome.) :p

My new Lowepro Pro Roller x300 AW arrived today. Note that this is the newer version, not the older one shown on Amazon that I ordered. I had a hunch the description was in error so am prepared to go ahead and keep this one. It looks like there is plenty of storage space for me and I'm looking forward to transferring all my cameras and lenses to it.

I'll get some photos after it's packed too.

A crappy iPhone pic, but this is the current lens lineup group photo.
I've intentionally excluded the lenses I'm selling (16-35, 24-70) and all the manual FD lenses I own.

Ok so apparently I need camera raw 9.5 for the a6300 files to open in photoshop. I have photoshop CS6. I just found the following info on the adobe website - "Camera Raw 9.5 is only available in Photoshop CC or later."

So I cant open my a6300 raw files unless I update photoshop :(

What a racket.

What about using the DNG converter to convert them first, then opening the DNG's in PS?

They open ok in lightroom but my workflow is to edit initially in lightroom and then edit in photoshop before saving back to lightroom where I end up with a TIFF. I will just have to change it so that I create the TIFF before I do the photoshop portion.

Either that or stop being a tight ass and pay the £8/month for photoshop/lightroom CC

Wow, that's a bummer. You may want to get the free Capture One Express 9 (external link) and save as tif images to import into Photoshop. Or, since they open in Lightroom, I assume you can just import to PS as .tif files for further editing.

update your camera raw, if you are using old CS6, then you will have to convert the images to DNG, they stopped updating CS6

wrong file, DNG Converter doesn't update Photoshop, that is a separate utility to convert RAW to DNG.

you need to update Camera RAW https://helpx.adobe.com …aw-plug-in-installer.html (external link)

9.6 is for CC only
if you have CS6, you are stuck with 9.1.1 and no A6300 support.
