You know what happened? The Sigma 20mm happened. I had just got it specifically for my KC trip and it really wowed me. And, of course, the Otus 55mm wows me. By comparison the 35L II shots just don't have the same pop to them.

The 35L II is technically awesome - stunningly sharp and superbly well-corrected, but I'm just not seeing the wow in the images as I would prefer.

I had tried the FE 35mm last year and thought it did produce "wow" images, but my copy was defective and it had to be returned. Definitely will consider trying it again if I decide to sell the 35L II.

Yeah, that's one thing that worries me about the FE35. I keep hearing the old "you have to buy 3 of them, and keep the best one". No way would I ever have the patience or financial resources to do that. But that aside, I've seen some absolutely stunning images come out of that lens. My second problem, of course, is that I'm predominantly a portrait shooter. So 35 isn't my ideal focal length (unless there's a 1 in front of the 35), and it would probably spend most of the time on my shelf. When I had the 35L (version 1), I hardly ever used it. Usually reached for the 24Lii instead, if I was wanting to go wide. (speaking of.... when oh when will Sony or Zeiss come out with a 24mm f/1.4?)

Ok Off TOPIC can someone who had the Canon 24 TSE explain the little lock type button next to the tension knob on the Shift function. The same button on the Tilt function says Lock but doesnt on the shift. Mine moves slightly but doesnt do anything and I only use the tensioner for locking.

What does that thing do!!!!

Need to explain the situation to a possible buyer

I just watched a few YT reviews of the FE 35. Wow! Looks like a superb performing lens with that Zeiss quality. The biggest drawbacks are the size but since you are used to the Sigma 20, the 35 shouldn't be an issue. I'm really interested in the lens now. It's pricey though!

Carlo, don't you have the lens? How do you like it?

I had the lens for about a year, but sold it when I got the RX1RII. It's better suited to environmental portraiture than landscapes, but I love the way that lens renders. Probably the only 35 1.4 that actually has nice bokeh. The RX1RII is great, but I do miss the ability to open the aperture up to f1.4 to get that beautiful bokeh.

Thank you Carlo. I'll add it to my list then. I won't get t anytime soon unless I sell my Canon 16-35II.

If it helps, there's a user manual on the B&H page where this lens is described. You should be able to download the pdf file so you can read it at your leasure.

By the way to anyone here in this forum that is known I will let the FE70-200f4 go for 600 shipped / paypal'd It has a small mark that I never saw until i put a strong LED to the lens at an angle. I can not see it in regular light at all and it has never affected an image that I can tell The lens is good and sharp focuses much faster than the 70-300. I just need the reach of the 300 now otherwise would not be selling

FYI sorry for filling thread with a sales thing

That is a steal for a stellar lens. Little marks like that often have nary an effect on final outcome. Now
where were you when I was adding the FE 70-200 ?????

Glws, nice price, if I didn't have the 70-300, I'd get it. The 70-300 doesn't seem to have the same bite, but usable.

Going to take a beating for the mark so would rather it go to someone I know can use it.

Get to use the 70-300 this weekend my other half booked me on this:

Desert Big Horn Sheep Tour, Canyon Lake. The Arizona Game and Fish Department is offering two unique opportunities to view one of Arizona’s most iconic arid land animals, the desert bighorn sheep, on a 3 hour morning boat tour on Canyon Lake. On this intimate tour, participants will be boarding department work boats with biologists who will share and interpret bighorn behavior, biology and discuss wildlife conservation topics during the trip. Mating season will be underway and there is a good chance of seeing rams fighting or chasing ewes. This is an excellent opportunity to view, photograph, and enjoy bighorn sheep in their native environment. In addition to bighorn sheep, bald eagles, herons, and waterfowl are often seen as well
