Yep there is something quite disarrayed with the current Aria story line....remember the master specifically told the waif to make it quick
and painless and further, the waif went out of third person more than once=nothing a highly trained 'no one' would ever do. More, do
you think Jaqen H'ghar will simply let her walk out and sail to Westeros ??

The writing definitely seems worse and more inconsistent this year. Still, really hope the season finishes up well in these last two episodes. :)

nice to know. should be here by 1:30 and I have one more to shoot this evening on that property i'm working on. perfect time. same reason also why i paid the 1 day shipping. excited. might be my default lens unless i have portrait. I can also use it with environmental portraits. selling my 35F28 and canon fd20f2.8.

If you manage to squeeze out a bit bokeh out of that f/4 lens at 35mm it is even a quite nice bokeh lol. It definitely is my default lens on it when doing city trips or casual shooting.

There are some theories on this:

--Aria is living out a "Fight Club" situation with waif.
--Jaqen is actually the Dancing Master, Aria's old teacher from King's Landing

And there are a few more . . . can't wait to see what happens next!

Does anyone have experience shooting the A-mount CZ 24/2 on an A7 body? Thoughts?

I've been saying Jaqen is Syrio since he first showed that he could change faces and was from Bravos. At this point I'd kinda be disappointed if that turns out to be true just because to me it was too obvious

Cooking spare ribs on my smoker for the first time. This is how it looks at about the half way point. It''s now wrapped in tin foil for an additonal two hours of cooking.

The a7S most definitely has eye focus.

No, it doesn't have IBIS, but being 2+stops better in ISO negates the need in my opinion, in a wedding environment you want to keep your shutter speed relatively fast anyway to avoid motion blur.

As I said, I feel that it's AF system is more than up to the task. I haven't shot with an a7ii body, but most reviews I've read say they're very similar for single shot AF, Steve Huff actually said the a7S was faster than the a7ii in single shot.

seriously only @EverydayGetaway has a7s and opinion about it? anybody else? none?
he was only one who responded, appreciate that - this is a A7x community, but looks more like some individual person chat type, kinda disappointed :(

I would have responded but don't have an a7s or have any experience with one.

Sorry you're disappointed.

Why are you so disappointed when it was genesimmons who asked the question? Lucas gave a pretty thorough answer to the question. Not many people in this thread shoot with the a7s so that's why the responses were low probably

This is an odd post. I had assumed you were unhappy that your question went unanswered, but I checked EverydayGetaway's post and he was responding to a Gene Simmons post. Are you unhappy on Gene Simmon's behalf, or did you also have a question?

This is a photo forum, not a video forum. And, rightly or wrongly, most generally view the a7S (and a7S II) as primarily a video camera and not for stills. Add to that this particular a7X community is actually very small - not many of us - so, yeah, Everyday might be the only regular with an a7S. I had one for several months last year, and loved it, but sold it to make way for my current setup of a7R II and 5DS R. For stills photography the a7S and a7S II doesn't really offer much over the a7R II except, perhaps, superior low-light AF performance.

DTBaan has one, but he and Lucas are the only two I know that have one.

I try to not to comment on gear I haven't used myself.

A couple of processing notes as I post this image:

1. I love DXO Viewpoint for images like this. My camera wasn't perfectly squared up to the tracks below, so I used Viewpoint to correct the verticals and to make sure the horizontal rails are perfectly flat to the frame.

2. AFAIK the "clarity" slider has been in Adobe Camera Raw and Lightroom from the beginning, more or less. I hate the "clarity" slider for two reasons: 1. It does not produce a clearer image, so it doesn't live up to the name, and 2. It produces nasty halos (which is why I avoid it). But, a couple years ago Adobe came out with the "Dehaze" slider. I love it. To me "Dehaze" does make images appear "clearer".

It's a shame that it's stuck with such a lame name as "Dehaze". In the last several months I have been using dehaze on most of my images to some degree - either globally as in this image, or locally. It can crush the blacks, but that's easy to mitigate with a simple use of the blend-if sliders. Anyway, if you think "Dehaze" is only useful to cut through hazy images, you might want to toss out your preconceptions that come with an unfortunate name and give some thought to using it to make your images clearer. :)
