This is a photo forum, not a video forum. And, rightly or wrongly, most generally view the a7S (and a7S II) as primarily a video camera and not for stills. Add to that this particular a7X community is actually very small - not many of us - so, yeah, Everyday might be the only regular with an a7S. I had one for several months last year, and loved it, but sold it to make way for my current setup of a7R II and 5DS R. For stills photography the a7S and a7S II doesn't really offer much over the a7R II except, perhaps, superior low-light AF performance.

i was kinda replying on the original posters post. everyday responded and i simply asked a few questions about his reply.

The 7S is my favorite second camera. Still number one in shooting in the dark or low light as far as I'm concerned. Plus silent shutter for people who blink when they hear the shutter go. This with a legacy Olympus 135mm f3.5.

That is amazing what you did with that one Gene.

Got rid of my A7s and have always regretted it.

I still don't see a need for the second version. Maybe the next upgrade will go where the a7S can't.

Do you have an a7R II? It also has a fully electronic silent shutter just like the a7S.

I agree though: the a7S makes an outstanding second camera and I wish I had one in my bag still. My favorite thing about the a7S (besides the silent shutter) is the "low resolution". 12mp is absolutely perfect for so many types of shots and it's a lot easier on the storage space.

I'll add that weight, or me remembering that the A7s was a lightweight body, is also an advantage.
I do look every now and then at FM for a used one.

What's expected on the xt2? Haven't been keeping up to speed on that one.

Same sensor as the X-Pro2, threaded shutter release, tweaked dials and buttons, fully articulating screen, even better EVF and LCD and a better AF system.

I really like Fuji, but there always been stuff about it that bothered me...

so far every Fuji camera i tried (didn't try x-pro2) feels really sluggish, especially the AF.
the stupid RAW ISO limit
lack of metabones like adapters
no ibis
on some models the feel of the buttons/controls.

but Fuji lenses are excellent.

My X-E2 actually feels slightly faster than my a7S, and much more comfortable for me to use for my style of shooting, I live the dedicated SS dial and on lens aperture rings.

RAW ISO limit isn't a thing with the X-Pro2 and I imagine that trend will continue going forward. I don't really care at all about IBIS, but some are speculating that the X-T2 will have it.

I think the adapter thing couldn't matter less... I have 6 AF lenses for my Fuji kit and all are excellent, the total cost of all of them is around $1300.

You should do it already. The a7S sale will be nice to fund that xt2. When is it going to be released? I am interested as well.

I got my cars roof and spoiler foil wrapped yesterday. Decided to go for a very quick shooting. The last thing for now that needs to be done is to get some black rims too...

I've never understood the appeal of black wheels... to me it just makes them look dirty.

Fuji X100 for about £200 - worth a go at that price!? It's small, light, 35mm f/2 equivalent as the latter models right? Just smaller mega pixels...

It's not an X-Trans sensor, thus it has an AA filter so it won't be as sharp as the later ones, but from what I've heard they're still very good. I know that the lens tends to get a sticky and oily aperture though so be careful when looking for one. I nearly bought one myself a while back. I would consider spending the extra bit to go for the X-100S if you can swing it.
