the thing that gets me with the Hassy is the leaf shutter lenses. Those lenses have the shutter inside the lens, so you cant just adapt any ol 645 lens...... you'de be stuck with hassy glass, which is expensive.

Maybe wait till pentax makes one, and with IBIS, that would be damn sweet. Not as groundbreaking as when sony went FF mirrorless, but still pretty huge move by hassy. Hope they sell buttloads.

I thankfully have zero interest in this. Don't want to get into the medium format GAS game

Unless they also give it an electronic shutter. Then you could theoretically adapt glass, it just wouldn't be able to HSS like the native lenses (and would, I guess, behave like an A7 in silent mode)

It's able to adapt existing Hasselblad lenses that don't have leaf shutters, so it appears this may be the case.

I honestly think the launch of this camera is a big deal symbolically - because it is showing the end of the DSLR is very near. We have had the 1DX_II , the D5 and the D500 launched - these will be good for the next 3 years for the sports crowd. Events people will soon get their last DSLR cameras from Canon and Nikon - the 5D4 and the 810 replacement. After these two cameras are launched, I think it is pretty safe to say that most people's next camera will be mirrorless - even the pro cameras. If this camera had IBIS, was $2000 cheaper, I would buy one for Bridal portraits it there was a mid range zoom available.

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Years ago, I owned a Mamiya 645 single lens reflex film camera. It actually had it's own shutter built into the camera as well as the leaf shutter on the lens which was usually only used for high speed shutter speeds with flash. I would imagine the Hassy has a built in shutter in body as well.

Nope. At least not if Ming Thein is correct. From his blog post:
"Before anybody asks again in the comments, the body contains no shutter. This means whilst the flange distance is very short and some 35mm lenses may well cover the format, they will only be usable if a) there is an electronic shutter implemented in firmware – that has yet to be confirmed, and b) some enterprising third party gets out the lathes."

Lol have fun at the game Alfredo. I wanted to take my son since he started watching copa america, but the ticket prices have sort of skyrocketed. NRG stadium is huge. The 21mm might be wide enough to frame a good amount of the stadium from certain vantage points

Carlo, the atmosphere was electric! I wish you and your son could have attended but yes tickets were crazy high. I got mine right after US won their quarterfinal. My buddy and I had very good corner seats on the second level. Messi was amazing. Our US team was out matched from the start.

You had some excellent Houston Cougars stadium shots last year with the Batis 25mm, so 21mm is wider still.

21mm was good but boy would I have loved the 10mm. I did shoot a few panos and one of them looks promising in LR merge but I think I'll run it through Auto Pano Giga.

Yeah and that stadium is much smaller than NRG. NRG has close tot double the capacity of UH's stadium. Excited to see what Alfredo produces. The game is sold out so it should be a nice looking crowd.

Thanks. Lighting was very trick with high dynamic range. I hope to have a few quality keepers that I can show here.

I pulled the trigger on a used ZA 24/2, couldn't pass up the deal. The Batis 25 would have been nice, but the CZ was half the price and I can use it on a77ii.

From what I've read, I can expect typical Zeiss IQ--I'm officially excited.

This is the second lens I've bought from Japan, the first was the Minolta 200 HS APO prime and that was a gem.

The Russian-made LoMo Ko 120mm 1.8 (Zeiss Jana clone) I bought a few months back still needs to be converted, as I haven't had time to take on a DIY project of late. After all is said and done, I will probably put enough money into the project to cover the price of a SY 135. Love the character of the shots I saw from the LoMo, so that's my incentive.

Awesome! Yes Messi is a beast. He's basically the Steph Curry of soccer...except he doesn't choke in the playoffs lol. They were basically playing monkey in the middle with the US. Christian (my eldest) understands sports now and gets butt-hurt when his team loses...so we were watching american ninja warrior once we were down two goals hah.
