My 90mm Macro (the new version released alongside the 85) is pretty awful on the a7R II (but fine on the 5DS R). In retrospect I should have got the 85mm...I just really don't give a ____ about macro photography. - Works perfectly - just as good as the Canon 24-70 that I have been able to determine. Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Now back to sad reality. Think I'll hold off. Gotta have strong performance on the 24-70ii, and if this kills it, no thanks. - BP -

I'd guess the 24-70 is one of the most commonly adapted lenses, you'd think the villagers will revolt if it's universally as bad as he's saying it is. it's coming for sure. I'm going to try out .50 for the native features, not too worried about the 24-70ii, but if it works for my 3 primary use lenses (sigma 50, EF 100 f2, EF 135 f2) then I'm golden for a really long time. Knowing metabones, a few iterations and it'll be golden.
