Great shots!! 85 GM?

Wow Carlo, that first shot is gold!

Excellent shots of your daughter there, Carlo. The PP you're putting on these is fantastic. I am always so envious of you guys with the good PP skills. hehe.

Thanks guys. Yes 85 GM Nekrosoft.

Nadim PP wasn't too complicated. I'm not super great in PP either...not compared to the guys here at least. I used Google NiK glamour glow, darken lighten center, and pro contrast.

...Thanks Gene. I'm going to try brightness of 30 on my Dell monitor and recalibrate to see what the luminance value is. It had been 80 whatever the unit of measure is (candles/m^2) I think. Will see if it goes up to 100 or 110.

I see you have a Dell monitor Alfredo. I have the DELL U2713HM and used the settings given on the site I'm linking to below. You can jump down to the "Calibration Results" section to see the recommended settings. This is how I set mine up and I believe all I changed was lowering the brightness from the recommended 35 to 30 because of my dimly lit room.

The website gives a very detailed look at this monitor. Hopefully you'll be able to glean good information for your monitor situation as well.

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk …l_u2713hm.htm#calibration (external link)

Edit: A word of caution. With the settings suggested from the site linked I use, prints will probably come out a bit on the dark side so be sure you compensate for the brightness when, and if you do your own printing.

Speaking of monitors, anyone using a 4k monitor yet? I've been thinking about upgrading my Dell UltraSharp for their 4k model, the Dell Ultra HD 4k Monitor P2715Q 27-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor (external link)

Comments, recommendations appreciated.

4k monitors are great for photo work, but before you buy one make sure your PC can handle it.
I was about to buy one, but since I also like to play games on PC, I made a compromise and bought 1440p 165hz display with Gsync and IPS panel, that gave me larger resolution, crazy high refresh rate and perfect sync, no screen tearing, and great natural colors after calibration.
https://www.amazon.com …-6&keywords=acer+predator (external link)

you need a video card with HDMI 2.0 or DisplayPort 1.2, anything less and you will either be stuck in 30hz or some lower resolution.

And if you do go with 4k monitor, I would recommend Windows 10, as 7, 8.1 and previous versions are not good at scaling, scaling in 10 is not perfect either, but much better then 7 or 8.

I use the 34" curved instead of 4K, more usable real estate, unbelievably good format, no scaling.

amazing, easily 2 side by side browsers/applications. When working full screen it's amazing.

I was considering to buy that, but didn't like the curve... it introduces un-natural curve to images in my opinion, where a straight horizon looks like it curves.

Have heard of that for architecture, havent seen it. The monitor is amazing, the curve is so subtle to start with (dell specifically).

Thanks guys for your thoughts and opinions regarding a 4k monitor. I would need to upgrade my video card as my GeForce GTX 650 Ti doesn't have a DisplayPort 1.2. Monitors are just another form of GAS for me as you might imagine. :-D

I've recently been using my 65" Vizio P-Series as an editing monitor. I think the extra resolution can be handy, but it doesn't change my workflow much, it can actually hinder it due to scaling issues with certain software (the Nik collection doesn't scale well at all). I would recommend getting a backlit monitor over an edge lit one though, edge lit monitors tend to have light bleed, clouding and bad uniformity... not good for editing photos.

Most PC's can handle photo editing in 4K very easily... you don't need 60hz to edit photos. Gaming is a whole different story.

while true that you don't need 60hz to edit photos, but everytime I use 30hz display I get a dizzy feeling, 30hz experience is not a good feeling for a lot of folks.

Well my Peak Design Leash finally arrived (issue with 1st order from an amazon seller and had to re-order). I must say I am impressed. Ive got it on my X100T just now. I really like how it scrunches up to a small size. This was the one thing I disliked about my other strap (https://www.amazon.co.uk …DAJM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 (external link)) as although it was about the same width the material is more rigid and doesnt fold away as small. I prefer the cinching method on the artisan strap but the Peak method isnt too bad (the artisan strap can be lengthened and shortened with one hand whilst wearing it).

I wish Peak done a wrist strap in the same material. I know theres the cuff but it looks really long

EDIT - Just watched a video on the cuff and it actually looks ok. Might pick that up as I predominantly use my A7RII with a wrist strap
