Not so happy here, because my grandmother died on the 4th of July (about 5,5 hours ago).

Condolences to you. I've got no one left above me and the worst losses were the grandfolks.

I think Vinz had this dilemma maybe?
I'm sticking with the EOS adapter 100mm macro that's paid for, so if me I'd go with the Bat.

another option if just a sony shooter or jpeg only shooter is capture one express for sony.

https://www.phaseone.com …or-Sony/Sony-Express.aspx (external link)

will work with jpegs from other cameras, can also receive tiff files from any camera, so if you convert before importing. a pretty good free option.

Sorry about your grandmother, Jocau. Hope you managed to spend some time with her and she passed on all the family stories to you. All my grandparents died before I was 10 so don't feel I really knew any of them. It's a sad day for you.

Well, I live in Belgium, so we don't celebrate the 4th of July. She almost died yesterday (kidneys stopped working). And yesterday was the birthday of a good friend of mine (that would have even been worse than today). The weird thing though is that my grandmother sold her house to a young couple about 9 months ago and today it's the birthday of the girl of the couple.

Very sorry for your loss...i hope you find peace and comfort in all of the good memories. ..

Can't make up my mind....

85 GM (new)

Or Batis 85 (1 month old) and 90 macro (2 month old )....

If you don't mind the size and the pricetag, I would go with the GM. the Batis is no slouch in terms of sharpness but base on what I'm seeing, the bokeh of the 85GM is better.

If you're more of a portrait that macro, 85GM is the obvious answer. Since I sold my 90, i just bought an extension tubes to be use if I have to do macro.

The PS Elements test was for a friend who is a nikon guy and more of doing graphics work and can't afford icloud(PS&LR), so i guess the PS ELement is good enough for him.

hey vinz or anyone else looking for a macro, I have a beat up sigma 50mm f2.8 macro(1:1), EF mount. It has coating loss on the front, scuffs on the rear, but IQ seems great. Going to sell it for $50 shipped/ppd due to condition. Reason for selling, I bought a mint version of the lens via Ebay, so will get rid of my beat up version. I've posted samples with the vincent thomas bridge, sunflower shots, and queen mary.

When I travel light I carry a Windows 8+ pad, a Dell Venue, and it runs PS Elements. Maybe it can run PScc or LRcc but I have it licensed on two other machines and Adobe will not allow me to license on a third even if I purchased another license. The option for us was for Poof to purchase a license and then I remembered Elements. For what I do in the field it is fine, besides the main role of the Dell Venue is to move files from SD to external hard drive.
Playing with Elements I think it can do a lot if one is willing to learn :)

it's good. the only thing that's missing with the Element's camera raw version are the HSL sliders. it does not have refine edge as well. unless i missed it.

Very sorry to hear about your grandmother Jocau. I lost both of my grandmothers a couple of years back. They've left a void that's never really been filled. Grandmothers are a special thing.

Fourth of July photos. The other kids were not cooperating. Also...comparison between the SAL 135 f1.8 and 85GM. I like that the rendering between the two lenses is very similar, as it gives more consistency when switching between the two lenses.

Yeah I definitely do more portraits then macro. Do you think 85gm is fast enough for two year old on the move?
