color for me too...there is a slight halo on the left side, her right, not sure if its just the stairs or something else, it follows along her hair...

It's probably an artistic choice but for me, increasing texture on a female isn't very flattering and to my eyes, it's even more pronounced in the b&w edit. You may not prefer a softer look in this case but here's a quick edit I did by using a negative clarity adjustment. I also bumped up the white point too and tried to make her eyes stand out a bit more.

I like your edit Gene, I prefer the softer edit myself and tend to reduce clarity a little bit, especially working with women up close...it presents the softer side and not so harsh. Especially with freckles.

this may not be the case, it may just be the background stairs, but there appears to be a masking type line that follows her hairline (about an inch away) camera left down her hair (it doesn't appear on the right)

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

As a person with freckles, last name O'Neil, I have experimented a lot with the B&W higher contrast freckle look and it can be done well - it is a different look, more artistic, but my experience is that you actually want to bump up the contrast more and also bump up the white point to further increase the look. It doesn't work in every case, but occasionally it creates a popping artistic image that the client likes. I didn't do it here, I would if I had the raw file, but it is usually necessary to remove a freckle or two if the higher contrast technique creates an area that is too dark (you can see it here under her nose). I personally like the look.

Here is a 10 second edit with the idea

I really edited it in a way to make the freckles pop more. Many people loves freckles.

Taken with a Pentax 50mm F1.9 lens. I just liked how she was able to use her cane as a seat :)

Thanks. The comparison slider is a free script I modified to suit my needs and I host it on my own website (ussoriskany.us). I'd be happy to share the script with you but you'd need a web site to have a place to view it online.

I know L-Brackets has been discuss here before but we're now 1350 pages. It's takes a white to look for it.

I need an L bracket for the RII, what's the best there is - go.... :)

get the cheap variety for the Rii, you dont want the RRS version since it moves the battery door.
