Samyang 50 1.4 is less then 600, Sony is 1500.

It will be a hard sell for a Sony.

Will Sony 50 be 900 dollars better then Samyang?

Sony prices 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS G Master at $2600

Pricing and Availability – New FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS G Master lens. Teleconverters and Wireless Lighting Control System

Today, Sony has also released pricing and ship timing for the FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS G Master lens, 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters plus their new wireless lighting control system. All products were introduced earlier this year.

One of the most eagerly anticipated lenses of the year, the Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS G Master lens takes its place as the flagship telephoto zoom in the Sony lens lineup. Featuring built in Optical Stead Shot (OSS) and a fast f/2.8 maximum aperture across the zoom range, the lens will be an ideal fit for nature, sports, travel, fashion, beauty and wedding photographers. This lens will ship this July for a retail price of $2,600 US and $3,300 CA.

Designed exclusively to fit the 70-200mm F2.8 G Master lens, the new 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters (models SEL14TC and SEL20TC) will both be sold for the same retail price of about $550 US and $700 CA, and will ship this July.

The versatile new wireless flash and control system – comprised of the FA-WRC1M wireless radio commander and the FA-WRR1 wireless radio receiver – was designed to meet the growing demands of professional Sony photographers. With a maximum range of 30m (approx.. 98 feet) and the ability to control a maximum of 15 separate flash units in 5 different groups, it offers a flexible wireless flash shooting experience with exceptional performance.

The FA-WRC1M commander will be sold for about $350 US and $480 CA. The FA-WRR1 receiver will be sold for about $200 US and $280 CA. Both products will ship this August.

The new lenses, teleconverters and wireless lighting system will be sold at a variety of Sony authorized dealers throughout North America.

A variety of exclusive stories and exciting new content shot with the new lenses, accessories and other Sony α products can be found at www.alphauniverse.com (external link), Sony’s new community site built to educate, inspire and showcase all fans and customers of the Sony α brand.

if it's only a fullframe.

I don't know, the more I shoot on both formats the more I think full frame is over rated.

Sony announces FE 50mm F1.4 ZA prime lens

Sony has announced its new Planar T* FE 50mm F1.4 ZA lens. This full-frame fast prime features an 11-blade aperture for circular out-of-focus highlights even as you stop down, 'Advanced Aspheric' and ED lens elements and Zeiss' T* coating. Sony says that the lens' Planar design minimizes distortion.

The lens is similar in construction to the FE 35mm F1.4. It's weather-sealed and uses Sony's Super Sonic Wave Motor for quick and quiet autofocus. A clicked aperture ring can be de-clicked if desired for smooth aperture control in video.

At a recent shooting event in San Diego, we had a chance to go hands with this fast prime (view our gallery here). Despite being a bit heavy, the lens handles beautifully. We were very impressed by sharpness: subjects placed far off-center remained sharp even wide open, despite the 42MP Sony a7R II sensor resolution. Indeed, MTF curves indicate an impressive 60% response is maintained across the frame wide open even at 40 line pairs / mm. Our initial shots also indicate that axial chromatic aberration (green and purple fringing) are very well controlled, and bokeh appears very smooth, both of which add to this lens' appeal over options like the Sony FE 55mm F1.8 ZA.

The FE 50mm F1.4 ZA lens will be available this month at a price of $1500.

This is one of the reasons I'm pushing towards Fuji... Sony is so focused on having the absolute best optics right now that you gotta have some deep pockets to build your kit... and why do we need another 50mm anyway?

I really like what Fuji is doing... when I was moving between Olympus, Sony, and Canon, I was considering to move to Fuji and X-T1 was the camera I wanted to get... but after trying it, I decided against it, it was just way to sluggish, didn't like the AF system. Who knows maybe the new X-T2 is better... but at this point its not worth it.

I liked everything about the XT1 apart from the files. The XT2 looks interesting though and if the Sony sensor in it is as good as the a6300 then it will be a great camera. I won't be jumping though as you lose a lot of cash jumping brands as I have learned the hard way

A7rii prices seem really high in the uk just now even for grey imports. I wonder if it's due to the state the pound is in at the moment

they should have made the 50 a GM, really like the focus hold button on the lens, which this does not have.

+1 on the 35mm f2

Took the Voigtlander 10 to lunch Sunday with family. Bottom shot uncorrected as example.
Even with correcting from the extreme distortion you are left with a wide angle typical widening of humans. To do so takes away the rectilinear aspect and gives us more barrel distortion of lines in the background.

Anyone else keeping an eye on the X-T2? It's one of the prettiest cameras I've seen so far. Plus lenses are more affordable than with the Sony system. And it's 14-bit lossless or uncompressed RAW all the way, no exceptions I believe. Sadly enough though it doesn't have IBIS.

I have a preorder in for one. I really like the small compact nature of the a6300 and it handles taking snapshots of my daughters very well. The lenses are decent but not the best. Eye AF makes shooting very easy. But I am drawn back to the Fuji for a number of reasons, including overcoming the dealbreakers that prompted me to sell the X-Pro 2. It has a tilt screen which I've come to rely on with taking pictures of my kids. Has the added 3 way of the vertical tilt, which if you take pictures of kids using the rear screen you'll really appreciate. It's actually combines the best of both worlds for me between a tilt screen and being able to take vertical shoots at a lower angle. Not a huge fan of the fully articulating screen since it almost always requires way more movement and manipulating to shoot with. Dual cards will help when I want to quickly import pictures on my iPad to quickly upload to social media. I was holding out for a Sony body with dual card slots but sadly I think I'll be waiting for a a7III or an a9 which will be out of my budget. The standard 18-55 is one of the better regarded kit lenses, so if anything I figure it'll be a wash or even better than my 16-70 (not as wide and not as long but starts at 2.8).

What ultimately made me decide against keeping the X-Pro 2 was the fixed screen and the smaller EVF. The X-T2 resolves both of these. What draws me to the Fuji's again is the dual card slots and the AF joystick. Yet to be read is how the 4k quality is and whether or not it overheats (not an issue for me since I shoot at most 1 minute clips of my kids) and whether it has the severe rolling shutter of the a6300.
