Charlie, what's that yellow circle on the building?

First few shots from the Batis 18 which I'm finding to be a sharp lens. Still feeling it out but AF was snappy and made shooting easy. This lens is great for interior shots. These were 5 bracketed shots merged in LR, edited in PS CC and Nik Color Efex.

The bar stool on the left messed up my symmetrical shot. I didn't catch it until I started importing the images. Oh well. I can always return to reshoot it.

Very nice. I do love the 18 for interior shots. But in this case, your processing really looks nice (even though it's that HDR look). I find that works very well for interiors of this sort. I haven't yet figured out how to master this look though.

it's the observatory deck, in case Nadim was wondering how I got the high POV.

Yeah. So the view is not so exciting?

I'll never go back to Canon gear.

Working on my 5DS R advertisement right now. After that, every single lens I own is going up for sale. :D

Wow. Didn't see this coming. What happened? I thought you were still keeping a foot in both camps for now.

havent tested much, but so far - good. Only shame, no AF-assist neither from flash, nor from transmitter on Sony body
If you need for OCF, then take TT600S + X1T-S = almoust 1/2 cheaper for a flash (will also take one such combo later)

Indeed that has been true. But my metaphorical foot has to step aside on account of my literal back. I have been having some serious back issues this year, so going lighter/smaller. As mentioned, I may continue to having one f/1.4 lens, but the rest of them need to be lighter.

Seriously? Can't imagine TS-E 24 II any time soon. The TS-E 17mm definitely has room for improvement. Oh well, there is no doubt going to be a lot of cool Canon lenses coming out soon, but I've been waffling between Sony/Canon for 2 1/2 years and I'm ready to take a rest in a single system setup. No more adapters.

no, but it's free and worth the experience. I can see that the view from the US bank will be much higher, but not that cool either. $20 for the US bank view, another 8 for the slide or buy as package for a little less.

Thanks Nadim. I went for a bit stronger stylization on these hence the HDR look. My secret Filter is the glamour glow in Nik Color Efex applied strategically.

Beautiful Alfredo! :) You make the Batis 18mm look ever so appealing.

The more I've thought about it today the more I am inclined to go with the whole Batis set and skip the 85 GM. The GM is mindblowingly good, and an easier choice if I were a portrait shooter, but I'm not. The cost-difference savings can go towards a CV 10mm. The Loxias, Batii, and a crazy-wide CV or two...what else do I need? :D

Go for the Batis 85. The difference in image quality between the Batis 85 and 85 GM is smaller than the difference in price and weight between the two.

I'm not a portrait shooter either, however I already have a smallish good enough 100/2 for lightweight performance, so GM would be highly desirable for the 1.4. I have an overkill set of lenses as is, what's one more :-P

Another thing that is attracting me more towards the Batis vs GM is I continue to have the impression that the Batis has a more vibrant color rendering.

Speaking of "more vibrant color rendering", I was viewing this comparison between the FE 35mm F2.8 ZA and the Loxia 35mm. Look closely at the car's hue: Loxia renders it in a much richer way imo. That vibrant richness is the same thing I've become so accustomed to with the Otus. These seemingly small color-rendition differences really get amplified when processing the images.

I'm with you on this. I think the 85 Batis is my next buy. A bit redundant with the FE 90, but otherwise I'm all set. Sold the canon 16-35/4. Next is the 6d body and the phantom drone.
