If they had a full frame camera the lens cost would go up too, as would the size...

Shooting both formats side by side constantly for my needs FF is largely over rated and unnecessary. I still love the high ISO handling of my a7S, but I've also come to realize that I rarely care much about shots beyond ISO12800 anyway.

There's still that little itch in my head that says I should keep my a7S because it's full frame and therefore "better", but in practice it just isn't... not to me, not enough to justify twice the cost, twice the weight and a body I don't enjoy half as much.

you still missing the point, no one is forcing you to buy big full frame lenses.

something no fuji can do, you want ultimate quality use best full frame lenses you want.
want something tiny, use aps-c lenses, on a7rii you still have 18mp in crop.

I often use my Sony 10-18 wide angle on my a7rii, very small package.

With a joystick, dual card slot, 3 way angle LCD. Better firmware. Cheaper glasses. Do they use sony sensors?

Is fuji is also the one with bulb progress preview?

They don't have good flash system yet though.

Yes, yes and no... though I use Yonguo manual flashes anyway ;)

I'm in the camp that Full Frame isn't the end all, be all format that everyone is saying. I've shot with FF cameras before (5DM3, D810, a7RII, K-1, etc). With the larger sensor bringing certain advantages (cleaner high ISO, more DR, shallower DoF, native lens focal length, etc) there are disadvantages as well (less reach, having too shallow DoF at times, larger/heavier glass).

With most of the modern APS-C sensors, up to ISO 6400 is acceptable for me.

This. Though the DR and ISO advantages are becoming less and less of an issue. For my needs even my X-E2 offers more than enough DR, it's still a few stops behind my a7S in ISO handling, but the a7S is also sort of in a leauge of it's own. I think the X-E2 files are cleaner at ISO6400 than my a7R's files were, especially with color fidelity (which is way more important to me than noise grain).

jocau wrote in post #18080089 (external link)
When the light levels get low, anything past ISO 800-1600 on an APS-C sensor is unacceptable to me. But I'm allergic to noise.

Saying "on an APS-C sensor" like they're all the same is just not a good way of looking at it. The a7R I had was significantly worse than my X-E2 at any ISO above 1600... there may have been less actual grain in the images, but the colors were totally off, there were color casts, color noise all over and weird color shifts, those files were WAY harder to deal with in post than anything I get from my X-E2 or even my old T2i honestly (though they were definitely sharper than what I got from my T2i, the X-E2 is a wash in terms of sharpness and detail at high ISO in my opinion).

I've looked at quite a few files from the X-Pro2 and to my eyes the shots are very useable at ISO12800 in full color.

Ok, so show me the Sony 18mm f2, 35mm f1.4, 16mm f1.4, 56mm f1.2, 90mm f2, 10-24mm f4, etc...

The option may be there but the lenses most certainly aren't. I also love the build of Fuji lenses... Sony has acknowledged that most shooters prefer an aperture ring on their lenses by putting them on their super expensive lenses, yet they exclude them from all their other lenses... why?

Sony's APS-C lens selection is a total joke compared to Fuji's... it's even a joke compared to Canon who largely ignore good APS-C glass.

my casual kit is composed of various lenses, 12, 24, 35, 55, 100, 70-300. The fuji alternative is hardly smaller, not worth the switch for the massive IQ loss, nevermind the IBIS.

10/12 fuji has no replacement
OM 24 fuji has the XF 14, 16, 18 size similar or bigger
FE 35 fuji 23 f1.4? no real equivalent, fuji bigger
FE 55 fuji 35 f1.4, closest to true equivalent. sony bigger by a little, drop down to the FE 50 1.8, then about the same size.
EF 100 f2 + metabones fuji 56 1.2, sony/canon bigger by a little
FE 70-300 fuji 55-200, sony definitely bigger however both are fairly large lenses, so it's not that big of a deal. Both are manageable sizes for telephoto zooms.

these are various lenses that cover me for landscapes and general shooting 95% of all scenarios, and they'd probably cover most folks.

for my really specialized stuff, sure sony is MUCH bigger, but fuji doesnt offer an alternative either

14 f2.8 astro
24 f1.4 astro
24-70 f2.8
135 f2
200 f2

price wise, I dont know where fuji stands, but my sony kit is tolerable. If I had more disposable income, sure, I'de look into the new hassleblad system, but I'm really waiting for a challenger for hassleblad, there's a lot of old cheapo lenses if a competitor were to offer a standard shutter.

you previously mentioned in a post:

Ok, so show me the Sony 18mm f2, 35mm f1.4, 16mm f1.4, 56mm f1.2, 90mm f2, 10-24mm f4, etc...

if you think the crop factor is OK, then with the A7rii and something like batis 25, can replace 16, 18, 35.

56 1.2 + 90f2 replaced by batis 85 or EF 100, simply crop in post. CV 15 replaces 10-24, crop in post.

I certainly wouldnt be comfortable with those types of crops, but since you say it's hyperbole, then you can certainly deal with it. 3 sony lenses replaces 6 fuji lenses.

while you have to pay for it, and you dont know progress (but do know that it will be exposed properly), smooth reflections, best thing since sliced bread
