I have a 44-2 album on my Flickr mate ;)

Ugly lens but great effects in the right circumstances. I have a 44-2 and a 77m-4 :)

Just checked out both your albums there, really nice images and a cool effect too in some of them. Is the 44-2 the one with the most swirl?

Also that Leica 90mm 2.8 lens is a really nice size. I just wish I wasn't so crap at MF

Thanks Eddie ;)

I've had very limited time with the 77m-4. First impressions are it has more contrast, better flare control but the 44-2 appears to have slightly greater swirl. Doesn't appear to be much difference in sharpness. Need to use the 77m-4 a bit more though - I doubt I'll be keeping both.

The Leica 90/2,8 is a doddle to manual focus ;) Seems to really pop in and out of focus on the viewfinder ;)

The 44-3 might be better. It has the swirl of the 44-2 but is multi coated - not that much better than the 44-2 but any little bit helps. Flare is good but too much flare can be hard to control.

Thanks both. For the sake of £50 I think I'm going to pick one up. Looks like a fun lens and lees samples show it to be sharp

maverick75 posted a diy technique to make the swirlies easier to do....it's in this thread. Basically, cut out an oval from a piece of cardboard and stick it up on the front of the lens. it shouldnt be a circle.

It's got usb 3 also so I think you can plug in a cf card reader

I believe version 2, which is bigger and shaped like a square hockey puck has USB3. Version 2 comes in 2 and 3tb versions.

Fans of bokeh should check this persons flickr - https://www.flickr.com/photos/103352016@N06/page1 (external link)

If you hover over the images the lens used is in the title. Some weird and wonderful lenses in there producing some amazing bokeh effects.

Trying out the affordable and reasonably small EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM:

I don't have any good answers any more. More $$$ for more lenses mainly. :p

Outstanding imagery David! At the weight (important to me) and incredible sharpnessI'd not look at anything else. Though tempting the FE GM lenses are they are just too weighty
for me; you are younger though and I'm sure can tolerate the weight (and price) better than me. Now if you are doing weddings and need the fast low light, or when massive landscapes
suddenly need bokeh....

Eddie if you find out that you can plug in a card reader please let me know. At that point the laptop can
stay at home.
