I'm doubling down on sony, getting another FE mount lens :p

If I could add one it would probably the FE 90 unless the miracle of miracles would happen and Sony'd give up a 400mm e-mount fast prime.

Poof just asked me yesterday what I'm taking to Panama.....currently just don't know. I guess it just boils down to how much I want to suffer weight
wise and accept I'm not NatGeo and just have a good time.

5D Mark IV to be announced soon . If its a similar sensor design to the 1DXII, it should have near level Sony DR.

so....who's switching back?

Awesome image and PP insights Alfredo...really appreciate that. I got Lumenzia last week and I already like it better than Raya Pro. Those luminosity masks can kill the file size, and Lumenzia's method avoids that very nicely.

---------------–---------

So, I am halfway reading through the "Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Rolling Review (external link)" on FM and....ugh.....might be returning the Canon 24-70 f/4L IS.

I am liking several things about the GM: 1. amazing sharpness across the zoom range, 2. minimal field curvature, 3. great bokeh. That is three ways the GM even beats the 24-70L II. I simply couldn't stomach the Canon bokeh on the wide end, but the GM bokeh looks great at every FL.

Going to keep reading, but may just have to give it a try...otherwise I'll never know for sure.

Thanks David. Yeah Lumenzia is pretty cool. Fairly steep learning curve but I'm liking the results with it. Lots of flexibility with Lumenzia and Greg keeps updating it to make it better.

I would say 4 hrs or so to learn the panel. Then it takes practice like everything else. That's not to say you can't start using the panel right away and get some nice results. But there is a lot of flexibility in the tool. The main advantage of the tool over some of the other panels is the way the luminosity masks are created. They are not channel based; they are based on curves.

Thanks Digital, my off week is approaching. I'll google up some YouTubes and see if I can follow the process. I don't do a lot
of landscape but if I remember correctly it's only $40ish so no too bad.

His latest video (external link) showing off the new +/- feature solved a processing conundrum I've had for years. Lately I used it on my road photo (external link) to select the painted lines in the road. Super cool.

That is a great feature. Useful in so many ways. Still learning how best to incorporate the panel in my black and white processing.

I think I'll get it this week, I've got a lot of down time and we're stuck in this area due to continuing education credits I need to get; so between classes I can tinker with it.

That's awesome. Greg has some very useful videos that you can access after you purchase the panel. At $40, it's a real bargain. There is also a Google+ community that is fairly active and useful.

Honestly if someone would make a camera like what the Nikon Df tried to be I'd be interested. Give me a DSLR that has manual hardware SS, aperture and ISO dials and a precision split focusing prism in a classic SLR sized body and I'd be seriously interested.

Honestly. I have days where I do want the go back to canon. I still get pretty frustrated with the Sony at times.
