I was 9 and in 3rd grade...we were watching it live on TV...even at the age of 9, we all knew what just happened...a few years later I lived in Houston and we often went to the NASA Space Center there....odd the things we remember and how they come back from time to time...

It is interesting what we remember. When Columbia was going to land in 2003, I remember getting up early to go outside and see its plasma trail as it re-entered over California - just a few minutes before it disintegrated over Texas.

David A, nicely done with the tilt shift effect and the editing! Very cool.

Worked for NASA for 14 years 8-)8-)8-) You may have seen on the news that the SpaceX rocket exploded the other day. It was due to launch the day we were there so a bit annoying. We got to see the rocket though with the black explosion marks when we were on our tour of the launch pads. Theres a NASA launch on the 8th but its at 7pm so trying to work out if I can catch a view from somewhere. Its a bit late for Callum though as its about 90 mins away

:)

I had not heard about the rocket explosion. Will read up on it. That is so disappointing to hear.

You should be able to catch a good look at the launch anywhere near the coast. Good luck!

This should be the final from the hotel series.

Looking up at the fancy chandelier.

Alfredo, like everyone else, I've really been enjoying your hotel images from San Antonio. I hope you get a chance to apply your skills to a few photos of the Mission San Jose too.

Gene, really appreciate that! Yep I have some plans to shoot more of the missions soon, especially Mission San Jose.

A "leading line" composition. This is as much an experimental attempt at turning dog poop into chocolate cake as anything. A totally bland setting, but I liked the sunset and liked the way the sunset glinted off the rails that work as the leading lines. The tilt-shift blur was added in PS.

I shot this with my most underrated and least-used lens: the wee little Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM. I need to change my attitude about that lens and shoot it way more often. It's sharp and has nice rendering to it that I like and it's super light.

Fantastic dog poop transition. Now if that 40mm were only F4! I actually keep that lens on a Canon body as lens cap-I've never used it :(

Thanks! Yeah, I'm sorry to say my own attitude about the 40mm hasn't been much better. It's quite fantastic though.

Later after I left last night I got a little charge out of the realization that I had been out shooting with the 10mm, 20mm, and 40mm lenses...how's that for some neat and clean focal length doubling?! The outlier in that threesome is the Sigma 20mm: it's really huge and heavy.

Too bad there's so little pictures posted in the APS-C forums and so much here. Kinda feeling left out only having APS-C Sony's :/

Maybe we can consider changing that. I think I would enjoy seeing images from Sony's APS-C cameras here as well. I know that some people here have posted their a6000 or a6300 images here and no one cares.

I am super jealous of your hotel shots. I gotta go find me a hotel to shoot now. These are SPECTACULAR!
And yes, that Batis 18 is an amazing lens. I love it and the 25.

Funny you mention the mission. I was just starting to think of a "shot list" this afternoon and decided I needed to venture down to Mission San Juan Capistrano very soon (it's about 30 minutes away from me). The Batis should shine in that setting.

Very nice. I like the colors on this edit and this shot more than the other ones. Overall, an amazing series, Carlo. Great stuff. You nailed that Disney vibe, that's for sure.

Yeah I don't think too many people were using the APS-C a7 cameras when this thread was made. Nadim are you able to change the title?
