I always have to pay the full price since I buy them without a mobile phone contract. That's why I try to keep my smartphones for at least 3 years. Expensive toys. :p

Very possible I suppose but watch the news there will be people camped out waiting to throw away 6-700 just to say "look at me I'm better than you" this is what's wrong with society. The need to be better than your neighbors. I work in a very simplistic part of Canada and I have been for 15 years.the local inuit work for what they need. Shelter and food. Sure We all bash them for Thier low work ethic bit it's us that has the pathetic work ethic. People here will put in ridiculous hours of over time being away from Thier families just to stand in line for the next iPhone ....are u kidding me. Yes we have it backwards. Apple or sony or whatever thow's out a line and millions bite it hook line and sinker. Hope staring at Thier shiny new phone will give them the joy they missed being away from Thier families to pay for it.

I guess if sony or canon wants to compete in this market they can always add a phone option for the a7 line up hsha. My phone makes calls and texts if I want to take photos I'll grab a camera.I don't grab my camera to make a call haha

Sony actually makes smartphones and this might actually make sense for them. I've always wished that they would shove a 1 inch sensor and some decent glass into one of their xperia phones....similar to one Panasonic did with their Lumix phone, but one that is actually a decent phone. I'd buy one.

Heck, i just wanted to say what lens did you use to get that much background blur lol. Must have been a 200mm 1.8 :p

Nicely done, a bit too much for my taste however. I really prefer leaving background blur to something that gets done in camera right rather than post.

If given the option you obviously grab your camera for a photo and not your phone however theres plenty of times I only have my phone on me and want to take a photo so for that reason I see the benefit of a quality camera in my phone. I used to be anti-camera phone and used to think that a phone should just call and text but ive since seen the light (no pun intended)

Having kids will make you appreciate your camera phone. Even with the RX1RII always nearby, my phone is almost always in my pocket for those fleeting spontaneous moments that you rarely can recreate.

Sure cam phones are handy. I certainly wouldn't wait in line to have the first one or preorder soi can say I'm first. I've taken a few decent shots with my work phone but if I go out for the day I certainly won't be using my phone

Oh yeah I would never do anything like that....especially when you can pre-order one online like I did last night.

But there's a weird culture that some really hardcore Apple fans buy into. For them, waiting in line to get a new device is part of the experience. If that's their vice and what makes them happy, then who am I, the guy who gets really excited about photography and often goes to ridiculous lengths just to take a photo, to judge?

This will get buried here quickly but since I was asked...

Here is a tutorial on the free jquery before/after plugin I use to compare images occasionally.

I made this video all in one take and didn't realize until I reviewed it that my 'after' image wasn't the correct one. Rather than redo the whole thing, I'm leaving it as is since it serves its purpose of showing how the script works. I now have the correct 'after' image on my website. :-)

Here's the link to this slider comparison online:

http://www.ussoriskany.us/Slider/ (external link)

And the tutorial on how it works:

If anyone is interested in this script, you can go to the catchmyfame website to download it and customize it to fit your needs. Here's the web address:

http://www.catchmyfame.com …query-beforeafter-plugin/ (external link)

If you'd like to use the one I modified, drop me a pm and I'll make the script available to you.

yup, I have a family member that typically stands in line on black friday, just to get some random stuff for family members, hardly ever gets the "big ticket" item. Some folks just like doing that sorta thing.
