canon had the touchscreen down since the original EOS-M days, it was awesome, that was about the only thing going for that camera :-P

Face detect and eye detect help alleviate the pain somewhat, but still would love touch AF and a responsive touch interface, the FN menu would be so nice with it..... Sony HAS to give touch screen on next iteration.

I had the M3 and touch screen was annoying... I would turn it off and my fiance would turn it on... Then when I would use it and put the camera strap on my neck I would get a lot of accidental shots.

I could never pay 500 plus for a phone! ! Jeezus or sign up for years just to have the newest crap. I have a blu vivo off amazon for about 120 unlocked 3gig ram super fast and it makes calls and can text hsha

I also was like that in the past. Until I got my first iPhone (the iPhone 3GS). I still find it a crazy amount of money for a phone, but I use my phone for a lot more than just calling and texting e.g. I use it to check my mails, browse the internet, control my PCs with Remote Desktop Client and play around with various apps. I also use it as an alarm clock and I use the calendar to arrange my appointments. On top of that I also use the Polar and Fitbit apps to sync my daily workouts to my profile on the Polar and Fitbit websites. I would already have quit these daily workouts if it wasn't for these apps. They keep me motivated.

Also, compared to photography buying smartphones is a really cheap hobby (for me at least). The iPhone 7 + Apple leather case + a couple of screen protectors would cost me around €820 and it would keep me satisfied for the next 3 to 4/5 years. A single Batis lens (e.g. the 1.8/85) costs 1.5 times as much as that (without a clear/protect/uv filter) and then you would even need things like a camera, a memory card...

Whenever I think something is really expensive and I'm trying to decide whether I can justify it, I'll try to calculate/predict the price/hour ratio. A simple example in my case is the game Team Fortress 2 on PC. I initially paid around €25 for it, but with all the in-game purchases, I'm probably around €150 (total cost) right now. You might say: that's a crazy amount of money for a game. But I've been playing this game since 2007 and I've played it for close to 1800 hours (and still counting). That makes it, together with my 13-year-old Sennheiser HD590, the best luxury goods purchase ever.

Jeezus dude I don't think I would brag about spending 1800 hours on a video game. Thatsca big chunk of life. That's some serious mind rot. And jeezus if ur gonna spend 820 on a phone u coud buy a used original a7 and cheap adapter to use your canon lenses. My 120 blu phone does every thing u described and it's 120.

Well, I'm somewhat disappointed in how the Batis 18 renders star bursts. Not as defined as the Loxia 21 for sure. I'm wondering what happened this morning. It was humid so maybe that's the reason. I'll post an example later tonight.

Nadim, did you have a similar experience?

I've never shot with the Batis 18, but yeah the batis 25 and 85 Starburst aren't the prettiest out there

OK, here is what you need: the Mindshift Gear Filter Hive (external link). Completely changed my world. It houses all my filters and it has a strap that goes over your ballhead. It makes managing filters in the field a pleasure. I may also get the "mini" version for a little less bulk - keeping all my filters in the main 'hive' while using the 'mini hive' for actual outings.

I have a Marmot Excursion Waist pack (external link) that is my water bottle/wallett ipod carrier when I walk...I also take it on photo excursion...I look like an idiot but I don't care...it lets me keep all my stuff right there with me. And it holds a water bottle...

Disappointing about the sunbursts on the B18...I will be testing that out next week...

Found this image while diggin through my trip earlier this year...getting ready for next week...finally finished the edit.

OK, I won't brag about, but I have a lot of hours into my fave game: Far Cry 3. I'm still playing it. :)

I don't agree it's mind rot: it's a mind sharpener. My mental reflexes are faster. Better than watching TV and it's nice to do when it's horrible outside.

Batis 18 does indeed have unpretty sunbursts. I simply avoid using B18 and just grab the CV10 when I want to capture sunstars. At least CV10 has similar quality to Loxia21's excellent sunbursts.

One thing I am considering is to split the difference between Batis 18 and 25 lenses and go with the single Loxia 21mm. That would free my budget to keep the 10mm, which I'd rather not sell (it has a sunstar much like the L21). I've been looking through my 16-35mm photos to analyze what FL I gravitate towards and, surprisingly, it's around 20mm.

See above. The B18 is not about sunstars. But then again I'm not a huge fan of sunstars in general. I find they get in the way of my compositions.
When I really must have them, I will use the CV 15 (and probably replace that with the CV 10 soon). CV has some nice sunstars.

OK, you're one of those. Got it. Sorry, it hasn't been proven 10000 times, but I'm not going to argue with your belief system. I play all the time and I own no guns and abhor actual violence and war. :)

Vinz the rok 14 mm doesn't have filter threads.I think the only way is to use ND throttle. I got one and works awdome.

A buit in ND like fuji has would be awesome feature on purposed a9. The fuji is only a 3 stop but it's better than nothing. This would be a nice feature on upcoming bodies

Thanks for the feedback on the Batis 18 star bursts. I will check previous shots to see if this was an isolated issue. I still really enjoy shooting with the lens. Very sharp, precise, and perfect for my architecture needs.
