I like the look Fuji better.

This thing looks like a powershot point and shoot.
I mean, I prefer Fuji's looks too, but it'd be kinda lame for everyone to start just copying what they're doing, that's how we ended up with what we know now as the modern DSLR in the first place, everyone basically just copied each others designs.
I'll have to agree to disagree about the looks of the M5 though, I honestly like it's look better than the a7 bodies

canon had the touchscreen down since the original EOS-M days, it was awesome, that was about the only thing going for that camera
Face detect and eye detect help alleviate the pain somewhat, but still would love touch AF and a responsive touch interface, the FN menu would be so nice with it..... Sony HAS to give touch screen on next iteration.
I too would prefer a touchscreen, but I'd also be happy with a focusing nub like the mid/high end DSLR's and high end Fuji's now have. I'm usually a center point only guy, but with the X-Pro2 I've been using a lot of other focus points, just like I did with my EOS M.

If the 80D - a crop frame - has 13.2, then 13.5 on a FF is a cinch. No reason to be skeptical that 5D IV won't be very similar DR to 1DX II:
https://www.dxomark.com …as/Canon/EOS-1D-X-Mark-II
.
Still not touching the a7R II at 13.9 stops DR...but it's close enough to not be the differentiating issue that it has been.
Eh, honestly I don't think it's been an issue since the 5D3/6D for most users. I posted in several threads back in those days an extreme example with my 6D where I pulled the highlights almost a full stop and pushed the shadows by at least 1 stop and the shot looked great... I get that for large print shooters and professional landscapers this can sometimes be a big deal, but for most users it's really overblown.

Absolutely. Banding was mostly gone with the 5DS R - I rarely ever saw it - by now I think the issue has been relegated to being just a horrible memory of Canon past.
I never even saw it on my 6D, definitely did on my T2i though.

The first M had a pure contrast detect system which is of the same caliber of the a7r/a7s. I think with the EOS M3 they added hybrid AF...same system in the a7rII/a6300, but not as well executed. The dual pixel AF is a pretty big deal..at least on paper. You basically have a second set of pixels acting as phase detect points. From what we've seen in the likes of even the 1dXII the performance is about on par to sony's' hybrid AF systems...a little inferior in terms of tracking. The big upside is in how smooth the focus is for video. Either way, dual pixel AF has tremendous upside and its a big deal.
Couple that with the higher DR of Canon's latest sensors, and this is a legitimate contender to the a6300.
Actually the first M was one of (if not the) the first mirrorless cameras to use a hybrid AF system, that's why so many of the EF and EF-S lenses worked as fast as the native lenses did... it's just that it was basically a BETA project and it just sucked.
I too am a huge fan of the dual pixel AF though, it's about time they bring it to mirrorless, we all thought the EOS M2 would have it

I had the M3 and touch screen was annoying... I would turn it off and my fiance would turn it on... Then when I would use it and put the camera strap on my neck I would get a lot of accidental shots.
I've never understood leaving your camera on while walking around with it hanging at your neck... why not just flip it on and off when you're taking shots? It's way better on your battery life anyway.

Jeezus dude I don't think I would brag about spending 1800 hours on a video game. Thatsca big chunk of life. That's some serious mind rot. And jeezus if ur gonna spend 820 on a phone u coud buy a used original a7 and cheap adapter to use your canon lenses. My 120 blu phone does every thing u described and it's 120.
Mind rot? There have been countless studies to prove that video games actually have very positive effects on critical thinking, reflexes, hand/eye coordination, etc...

We never had cable as a kid so never watched tv much we played and rarely watch TV now . Its been proven a 10000 times aND doesn't take rocketscience to know violent video game have descencatized today's youth to think violence is ok. How many shootings this week??? Bet those shooters had great mental reflexes so I guess there is positives to staring at a screen
Um... no, it simply hasn't. I'd love to see a study where you think it has though, maybe start a thread for it in the general-off-topic section and link it here, I'd be happy to debate it with you, just not in this thread
Also, I've been shooting guns since I was about 7 years old, owned my first gun at 10 and have played video games (even the violent ones) for much longer than that even and guess what... I've never shot a person, nor had even the inkling of a desire to.
You remind me of this woman I saw when I was in high school working at a KayBee toys; her son came up to the counter after her with some plastic gun toy and was super excited about it. She got immediately irate and told him that he wasn't allowed to be playing with guns, ever.
Then the boy rather witfully replied "What about my water guns?" and she said "That's different, people have been playing with water guns for... practically forever!"... it took all of my fiber to not bust out laughing.
What does she think playing with water guns is emulating? Also, the notion that toy guns existed before actual guns is hilarious on its own.

OK, you're one of those. Got it. Sorry, it hasn't been proven 10000 times, but I'm not going to argue with your belief system. I play all the time and I own no guns and abhor actual violence and war.

This... except I do own a couple of guns
