I mean, I prefer Fuji's looks too, but it'd be kinda lame for everyone to start just copying what they're doing, that's how we ended up with what we know now as the modern DSLR in the first place, everyone basically just copied each others designs.

I'll have to agree to disagree about the looks of the M5 though, I honestly like it's look better than the a7 bodies ;)

I too would prefer a touchscreen, but I'd also be happy with a focusing nub like the mid/high end DSLR's and high end Fuji's now have. I'm usually a center point only guy, but with the X-Pro2 I've been using a lot of other focus points, just like I did with my EOS M.

Eh, honestly I don't think it's been an issue since the 5D3/6D for most users. I posted in several threads back in those days an extreme example with my 6D where I pulled the highlights almost a full stop and pushed the shadows by at least 1 stop and the shot looked great... I get that for large print shooters and professional landscapers this can sometimes be a big deal, but for most users it's really overblown.

I never even saw it on my 6D, definitely did on my T2i though.

Actually the first M was one of (if not the) the first mirrorless cameras to use a hybrid AF system, that's why so many of the EF and EF-S lenses worked as fast as the native lenses did... it's just that it was basically a BETA project and it just sucked.

I too am a huge fan of the dual pixel AF though, it's about time they bring it to mirrorless, we all thought the EOS M2 would have it

I've never understood leaving your camera on while walking around with it hanging at your neck... why not just flip it on and off when you're taking shots? It's way better on your battery life anyway.

Mind rot? There have been countless studies to prove that video games actually have very positive effects on critical thinking, reflexes, hand/eye coordination, etc...

Um... no, it simply hasn't. I'd love to see a study where you think it has though, maybe start a thread for it in the general-off-topic section and link it here, I'd be happy to debate it with you, just not in this thread ;)

Also, I've been shooting guns since I was about 7 years old, owned my first gun at 10 and have played video games (even the violent ones) for much longer than that even and guess what... I've never shot a person, nor had even the inkling of a desire to.

You remind me of this woman I saw when I was in high school working at a KayBee toys; her son came up to the counter after her with some plastic gun toy and was super excited about it. She got immediately irate and told him that he wasn't allowed to be playing with guns, ever.

Then the boy rather witfully replied "What about my water guns?" and she said "That's different, people have been playing with water guns for... practically forever!"... it took all of my fiber to not bust out laughing.

What does she think playing with water guns is emulating? Also, the notion that toy guns existed before actual guns is hilarious on its own.

This... except I do own a couple of guns ;)

EG, I was just watching a review of the soon to be released Fuji XT-2.
One word=WOW.
I love my mFT kit for when I'm going light and want lesser worry of major dollar loss in a mishap (picture me falling with the A7Rii + 70-400gii) but so far
Lumix hasn't given me PDAF/hybrid focusing.
The XT-2 looks to have focusing abilities in spades.
Besides that I think Fuji is the first to offer two (2) SD slots, and not just ordinary slots but UHS-II.
Icing on the camera is Fuji weather sealing :)

So I'm looking at the XT-2 but also looking at the supposed EOS M5. Can Canon do it? Actually get into the running with a mirrorless?
What about the GH-5, will it have hybrid AF to suit the wildlife photographer?
Then the OMD M1 mk II, it's first gen had hybrid, I think the next gen will have the AF points and algorithms needed.

All in all a very exciting time for me. Right now I'm betting on the XT-2 but Canon just might surprise. We'll know soon enough, isn't Photokina just weeks away?

I agree, it's a very exciting time for us Mirrorless users and for photography in general :)

The X-Pro2 has the dual slots too (though only one is UHS-II) and also has the weather sealing ;) Thankfully I don't need extremely quick AF, the X-Pro2 is already bounds ahead of any camera I've had before it in that regard (including DSLRs).

I'd be very interested in the M5 if they had more lenses, the 22mm on the original M was awesome, but I wasn't super wowed by the other lenses. I think Canon's color rendition is a close second to Fuji though, going back through all my images I definitely generally prefer the look of the colors from my Canon's and Fuji's over those that I took from my Sony's.

Cool, looks like it has "three on the tree" vs "four on the floor".

That's a three-speed shifter on the steering column versus a four-speed shifter on the floor's transmission tunnel.

Well it will end up a devil of a decision. In some ways I'm rooting for Canon's M5, in the same way
hoping the GH5 will have what I want but again, when you look at the XT-2 well I just shake my head!
Poof has already looked at me and said 'it will never end with you!' Ha! I told here with the XT-2 I just
need one lens :)
Man that battery grip is smart smart smart.....but I wonder if the XT-2 can be powered by an external power
brick like the A7Rii or RX100iii. I use the Patriot Fuel+ cells.

Where did you guys buy your Haida filters? Do they make a holder where the CPL can turn freely?

I originally got mine on ebay from a vendor in lakewood california. Use it with the Lee holder, and in the past, used a 4x4 square polarizer.

Anyhow, here's my non participating runner up for the wheel contest

Just sharing my go to hss strobe setup.

The one directly on the camera's hotshoe is the Godox X1T-S Transmitter. On top of it is the transmitter that came free with the Flashpoint Rovelight. The X1T-S can control my Godox Speedlight and the Flashpoint transmitter can control the flashpoint rovelight. I can control the power from there as well as switching the Rovelight's modeling light on or off.

The flashpoint Rovelight has a built-in receiver. you don't need to add any receiver from there as well as the Godox speedlight, it also has a built-in receiver.

Jeezus dude I don't think I would brag about spending 1800 hours on a video game. Thatsca big chunk of life. That's some serious mind rot. And jeezus if ur gonna spend 820 on a phone u coud buy a used original a7 and cheap adapter to use your canon lenses. My 120 blu phone does every thing u described and it's 120.

It has got nothing to do with "bragging", it's called giving an example of my price/hour ratio theory. Also, I wouldn't say 75 days (or 1800 hours if you prefer that number) is a big chunk of life. Zero mind rot, lots of sharpened reflexes. Compare apples to apples next time (new vs new or used vs used, but not new vs used).

just to be clear, the godox cannot control the power of the rovelight, but can make it fire HSS correct? I have the rovelight and would hate to upgrade that flash, it's such a monster for the price.

yah it's strange how i cannot control the rovelight using the godox x1t-s but it made the rovelight work in hss. i like controlling the rovelight with its own transmitter though because it's so simple to use.

i will try to to experiment more if I can use only the X1t-s only for both. i'm not sure if it will communicate. adding the rovelight transmitter might also be the only reason it communicates.
