I'm honestly the opposite to this and really don't get how people don't find the camera intuitive. I don't even have to look at the camera now to push the buttons I want. I've got it set up so that there's only 3 things I need to go into the (annoying) menu for. Everything else is custom button or Q menu. Everything is just in the right place for me.

My main annoyances are the write speed/review delay and the shutter noise but I can live with both

I don't know, for me it wasn't so much that it wasn't intuitive, it's that it just wasn't as intuitive or as fun to shoot with as my other camera (which I won't name lest I be exiled  ).

The customizable buttons and settings on the a7x cameras are great, but they can't replace dedicated hardware dials and rings in my opinion.

I like the custom button layout of the a7RII. I don't go into the menu system that often so maybe that's why I'm not as frustrated with the camera as others. Sure, I would like a joystick to move the AF points or touchscreen but those are not critical for what I shoot. I'm very happy with my a7RII.

This man made river feeds into the falls I posted earlier. The river then feeds into the lobby of the Hyatt Regency hotel. I need to go back to get a shot of the lobby. It's pretty cool.

Quite a bit of dynamic range in this scene but again I use Lumenzia to mask in the exposures I needed. I'm open to constructive feedback on any image I share with you guys. Looking to improve any way I can. Thanks.

I think there is definitely an under-developed system of buttons/knobs to maximize a fluidity of a shooting experience. Just the lack of some sort of joystick to quickly and intuitively change a focus point has been rather striking to me.

My main ongoing hesitation with Sony, though, remains a lingering question about my camera's longevity. It doesn't help that after only one year's use my card door is now somewhat hard to open. That's to sort of thing I'm new to and I confess it is always giving me a sense of unease about it.

That's too bad about the card door. I too have some concerns about longevity. I'm worried the tilt screen will break one day. Only time will tell.

Looks great Alfredo...colors are beautiful. What lens did you use?

If I had a suggestion it might be more of a framing one. Below is a thought process. It is not a suggestion of something that is necessarily "better", but rather is just me sharing my own framing thought process.

I tend to have a personal general framing rule that says I want to see major natural and architectural elements resolved within the frame. A very easy example of this "do not lop off a building's spire" (i.e. church steeple, plane's nose, etc.). In this scene there are two elements my eye wants to see resovled in the frame: (1) I want to see the far waterfall (the one with the water pouring out the chute) cleanly and fully meeting the water in the pool. It's interrupted by the foliage and so we are somewhat robbed of that part of the view. (2) I want to see those two tree trunks that angle down towards the right side of the frame resolve to the planter.

If it were possible to move the camera position down a few more feet to the right, I think you'd get that little waterfall cleanly, without missing any of the main waterfall on frame left. The trees might be harder to get, but might be pulled into the frame by swinging the camera right just a smidge. But that might ruin the main waterfall...can't do that. It's hard to tell without being there. You probably already got the most out of your framing. :)

Well, again, that is merely only my own personal framing mental workflow...it's not better or worse, just how my sometimes-OCD brain works. To me it just helps anchor the elements to the frame.

BTW, I wish I was a lot more OCD in my craft. Every now and then I'll get a note from Gene pointing out some carelessness of mine. But I just cannot express enough about how much I appreciate his eye for processing! :)

I love the overall controls of the a7r/r2

I love the 3 wheels, shutter, aperture, iso.... Didn't have that with canon. Love the custom buttons as well, love the gimmicky send to phone feature, great for texting shots of family on the spot, one of the features that Sony has done a decent job.

Overall, I am super comfy and enjoy using the camera more than any other. Half the time I shoot MF , and the other half AF. Love that I have a full frame and can crop in an emergency and still have a decent amount of pixels on target. Absolutely love ibis since I shoot hand held often... While it's not perfect, i recall when the specs came out, it was a dream come true, the camera I've been dreaming about.. Implementation could be better, but holy hell, it is amazing even now well after the honeymoon.

Sure, I can be swayed back to canon or whatever brand , but if they make a FF mirror less, it had got to be much better for me to even consider, I appreciate all the Sony tech very much, as I'm a more tech oriented than anything.

Excellent suggestions David. I see what you mean now. I have another composition taken further to the right that includes the trees. Will see if it includes the waterfall. This was taken with the Batis 18. I should have switched to the Loxia 21 but I was in a rush but the Batis did a fine job. The files were very sharp and had nice microcontrast. Thanks again for the feedback!

From the looks of it 18mm was the right choice.
