Absolutely. But where the skill comes into play is in seeing interesting compositions with inherently 'uninteresting' subject matter and having the vision to see an interesting composition, and the technical aptitude to nail all of the technical aspects on the fly. When done well, I don't think this type of photography is any less great than the stuff we consider 'serious photography'. It just different.

That's the thread I was referring to. I struggle to nail the theme. It's more difficult than it looks
. It's less of a technical skill and more a matter of having the vision to 'see' interesting photos in our everyday lives and the creativity and technical aptitude to compose them well on the fly. Lucas is particularly talented here. I sort of suck at it but am constantly working on it. It always stood out to me when I shot weddings because wedding photography is basically a series glorified snapshots, and very often my second shooters would do a better at capturing candid photos than I would.
