Anyone here tried or thinking about trying the FE 50 1.4?

Yes, invi2003 on the previous page or in the corresponding lens thread. :-P

its pratik hehe....did you learn anything new from pratik outside of what you learned from his creativelive tutorial??

no really but i was curious of his different approach on different genre.... i was also more interested with watching the shooting and BTS. Dixie is good but I was just wondering why it seems she doesn't care about blown out backgrounds. is it really not important in lifestyle shots?

Do you have the GPU enabled in LR? What version are you running? Do you typically use an external monitor at home with the laptop?

I've been following this photographer's work for a little while now. This article really makes me think about the purpose behind the images I take and about really experiencing the places I visit versus merely being there as a passive observer.

Note: It doesn't matter that he uses Sony. He could shoot any other mirrorless camera system for all I care. That's not the main point of this article in my mind.

I'm working off a 2011 Lenovo W20 laptop with only 16 GB memory and have no problems running LR on it.

I can't remember when LR ever crashed on me.

I have mine on PC too, zero issues.

LR works fine for me in general. It's pretty slow loading Sony raw files (the 42MP variety) though on my Mac, whereas it seems to load and work a bit faster on the PC. Not sure why that is.

Just got back from a quick exploratory trip to Mission San Juan Capistrano. Got there about 30 minutes before closing (they close at 5:00), so it's not yet ideal light (as the days get shorter, it will be).
Lots of stuff to take pics of, but feeling completely uninspired. It's as if my photographic "eye" refuses to see the compositions that are there. I just end up taking snap after snap of stuff that leads to nothing.
It's one of those times where I need to take a step back, take a break, and start again, with a clean slate and a simple approach.

Needless to say, I got nothing for this week's challenge.

And again, I continue to fight the camera. Today, I feel like the colors are just so bland. Not sure why. Even after adding saturation, and vibrance, and playing in post...It's just not there. Not sure what happened. Might as well go black and white on most of these.

*Sigh*

simple answer? because PC just performs better, i know it's something that all the hardcore apple fans don't want to hear, but that is the truth.

I'm not a hardcore Apple fan but this is nonsense. I use PC during the day (work) and Mac at home and my MacBook handles Lightroom and photoshop just fine with no noticeable difference to when I used to edit on a pc.

Mission San Juan Capistrano.

Had to go into Color FX Pro to coax some color out of this one.

I've been a mac user since 1993. Been using photoshop since version 2, Adobe Illustrator, Aldus Pagemaker, Macromedia Freehand and never have a problem. Been using the MacPlus, LC, Quadra, PowerPC with no problem at all.

On PC I also have no problem using the same software, i just don't like windows, the windows system itself. but to each their own, we have different taste just like photography.

Spec for spec... no, they don't. Generally speaking you can get a higher end PC for much less than an equivelantly powered Mac, but that doesn't mean that "PC just performs better".

This.

If they have similar hard drives and a decent CPU (4 threads and a decent clock) then they'll perform plenty fast enough.

I felt the same way until I got Windows 10... which is funny because most hardcore PC guys hate Windows 10  I love it though, I won't be going back to Apple anytime soon, mostly because I love to tweak my hardware... I bought my PC used for $400 and it was a pretty good machine, but I've since put a whole lot more into it and now it's bordering on ridiculous (for what I use it for) :)
