I think most people who hate apple are merely because of the apple's inability to be tweak(there's hackintosh). They think apple are greedy and selfish. But the product is good, you can't deny that.

We got a picnic yesterday with a couple of family friends. I took this snapshot with my A6000 and SEL 30mm F3.5 Macro

iOS is a more efficient OS than windows so given two machines with similar specs, a mac tends to run better. That was my impression as of 5 years ago at least. Realistically, we've sort of maxed out the specs that we need out of personal computers. Unless you play games or run something that really taxes the hardware (i.e. video editing), you'd be hard pressed to sense a difference in performance and the preference for one OS over another is largely a matter of taste.

I felt the same way until I got Windows 10... which is funny because most hardcore PC guys hate Windows 10  I love it though, I won't be going back to Apple anytime soon, mostly because I love to tweak my hardware... I bought my PC used for $400 and it was a pretty good machine, but I've since put a whole lot more into it and now it's bordering on ridiculous (for what I use it for) :)

Hehe my laptop at the new job has windows 10 installed. I actually like the OS a lot. The new version of excel is super sluggish which I hate though.

Unusual wind and swell direction makes a normally sheltered area get a complete hammering haha.

As mentioned spec for spec mac and PC are the same. In my opinion mac has better build quality. My mac air is ridiculously thin and battery last 10 hours. The os is the main difference. PC with windows will always be the easiest to hack and need virus software.mac is much more secure and it's not as easy to hack aND doesn't need security up date daily. With all that said the surface pro looks like a cool device for editing if u can live with the os.
A surface pro with photo shop running linux mint would be the ultimate machine. ߘ

I think more people hate them because they trick people into thinking their systems are worth twice as much as the equivalent PC. The only Apple products that I think are a cut above most Windows options are their laptops, but that gap is quickly closing.

Sure, the product is good, but it's also often grossly overpriced.

The whole arguing point of PC being more susceptible to viruses is a bunch of malarkey. You're not any more likely to get a virus on one system or the other these days. The only reason this was ever true at all was because the user base was way smaller on Mac, there were way less D-bags coding viruses for it, that's not the case anymore.

Besides that virus protection has gotten extremely efficient and unobtrusive. I haven't run a virus scan in months on my PC and I use it for hours every day.

For what it's worth, the only time I ever got a virus that basically destroyed my hard drive was while using my MacBook... stop buying into internet myths.

Apple trained (lied) their customers well....

that statement is only true if your running completely unpatched windows xp, using it with no firewall, running original IE (6/7 or whatever it was) and download torrents and other crap all day.

lets bring in the hackers, in hacking competitons, Mac OS most of the time falls first.
http://www.macworld.com/article/1132733/hack.html (external link)
http://www.dailytech.com …+Pwn2Own/article21097.htm (external link)

now lets mention the vulnerabilities, Mac OS, iOS has the highest a mount of vulnerabilities.
http://venturebeat.com …5-mac-os-x-ios-and-flash/ (external link)
http://www.zdnet.com …-os-claims-security-firm/ (external link)
http://thehackernews.com …ble-operating-system.html (external link)

Its almost end of the 2016, soon there will be new reports, and nothing will change.

Then you have the results http://www.computerworld.com …-600k--macs-infected.html (external link)
Russian researchers have discovered a botnet of more than 600,000 Macs. Yes, Macs -- you know, those things that don't get malware.
in case you don't know what botnet is "a network of private computers infected with malicious software and controlled as a group without the owners' knowledge, e.g., to send spam messages, run DDoS attacks"

so why do people running Mac think they are invisible, simply apple keeps lying to them. Mac are not more secure, the market share is just so tiny compared to windows that they are simply much much smaller target.

and this was a perfect example

even in laptops the new Dell XPS 13 and 15, HP Spectre, even some Lenovos got them beat, but then again i'm not a laptop person.

My home server is a dual chip Xeon setup with total of 24 cores (48 threads), 64GB (soon 128GB) ECC memory and 40TB media storage)

Pretty sure my issues are related to my laptop having RAM issues...since just about every program on the machine runs slow and craps out...I need to format and rebuild it...

back to photos...more B18...a bit contrasty, a bit vignetted...but I liked it that way, everything seemed to point and move directly where I wanted the eye to go...

Travis really like this shot. I know you are probably not looking for feedback but i hope you don't mind me making a small suggestion. Have you considered changing the WB locally on the lighthouse and the wooden walkway? I like the blue tones to the sky and I think the grass is nice too but think the image would benefit from a purer white on the lighthouse and a warmer tone on the timber. Local adjustments as opposed to global. Just a thought, ignore if you like :D

Thanks for the input...I never mind input at all...good or bad, I like it and welcome it. I will also say that I agree...I did try to work on the lighthouse some and brought it back a bit...my attempts at working the boardwalk looked out of place...might need to try again if it is that out of place as is. I think part of the issue I had with warming up the boardwalk, this is the dark side of the boardwalk, at sunset, so the side we see even in the best conditions would not be as warm...it was a kinda murky, cloudy setting...maybe that is why I didn't like it...dunno.
