theres this 1 black and white picture here in this forum where it was such a great shot the tonality was diverse and dynamic but i cant find it anymore. I cant even remember what the picture was all about. I just remember going back to it time and time again to look at it. That was a couple of years ago and now i cant find it. I remember a couple of posters saying the same thing- they keep coming back to look at it.

sorry - all the black and white pictures in that link just suddenly made me remember that

It doesn't really bother me. I don't post photos of him naked or anything so it's fine. If I remove the photo from Flickr at a later date all the links on this forum go dead so they can be removed but even if they couldn't it doesn't concern me

It will probably bother Callum at his 18th birthday party when I've got large prints done and pinned all over the place for all to see :D

Nadim, it sounds like you just need to take a few minutes to setup the custom controls to cover your style of shooting. You'll get there. Don't let it get you frustrated too much.

What is everyone's thoughts on replacing skies? I am working on a shot of the Alamo and the sky was boring blue. I have a killer sunrise shot from a few years back that I think would look great. Part of me feels like sky replacement is ok as long as the photographer is up front about it and does not try to pass the image as 100% genuine. Thoughts?

I don't do it, but as long as no one tries to pass it off...and its all in the sake of art...go for it...I don't really know how...unless its a clean selection I am sure it would be obvious if I tried it.

I am selective of what I might post...and I do it in a place I feel ok doing so...and my daughter is gonna have a fit one day...but someone once reminded me that the day she graduates, or the day she gets married...she is going to have the most killer slide show at that event...and I will likely be a wad of emotional dad...I have not taken as many of her in the last 2 years since she clearly gets irritated with me...I need to get her over that and get back to it...I will regret it one day, she is growing up and I can't get those lost moments back.

Regarding Electronic Shutter.. Do this guy make sense?

An electronic shutter requires the sensor to be equipped with what is commonly called "snap shutter" circuitry. Basically, this is a second set of diodes, as big as the light gathering photodiodes, but shielded under a dark cover, and some additional switches. To shoot, the photodiodes are cleared of charge, exposure starts, and at the end of exposure, the charge in the diodes is transferred over to the shielded storage part of the cell. The cell is already full of stuff, so the only way to make space for this extra circuitry is to cut the size of the photodiode in half. Which cuts dynamic range and low light, high ISO performance.

this one was a real challenge...from patience during the shoot to the edit...the evening had a myriad of sky conditions from clear, to overcast to storm clouds...it poured rain shortly after I packed it in...the edit was a real pain too...I thought I had a vision for it...watched some tutorials for the style and didn't connect with it...so I just did my thing...the variety of ceiling altitudes made for interesting color pockets...
