Lol you have more trust in Sony weather sealing that most ;-)a Cool shot. If this was shot on a Sony camera, make sure to submit it to the weekly challenge.

Westcott Apollo 43 inch orb with the grid can be picked up for $100 right now. The grid alone is usually $70. Hell of a deal so I picked up one up.

Man, same thing just happened to my HDD in my desktop! :(

I didn't keep anything vital on there, but it still sucks majorly. It's my fault too... I swapped the power supply for a bigger one in anticipation of adding another graphics card and didn't know that the modular cables between different brands aren't compatible... pretty sure I fried it, thankfully that seems to be the only thing that went wrong.

Chances are that with the increased voltage you blew the TVS diode but the hard drive itself is fine. You can remove the TVS diode (google it) to get the hard drive running again. The voltage protection will now be gone so use this as an opportunity to move your data to a new drive, but I wouldn't recommend using it any more.

Thanks for the tip! I'll look into doing that.

No prob. I feel your pain. Did the same thing when I stupidly thought that the power supply for my vacuum would be good to use on my external hard drive. Apparently not :-). But yeah I was able to clip the diode off with tweezers and get it running again. You can solder a new diode in place, but I ended up just moving my stuff to a new drive altogether.

the shot looks cool. but i like everybody else, i would not make that happen to my camera. why? because i brought an A7II(which suppose to have the same weather sealing as the RII) to the Philippines last vacation and one strong rain. it got wet for a minute before i put it back to my bag, the LCD got damage. Good thing i was able to return it.

Anyone here using an RX100 (any version)? My search for a point and shoot/ carry everywhere type camera continues. The Fuji X100T was 95% there but the AF wasnt good enough for my needs. Ive been flirting with the idea of trying an XE2 but had to remind myself the AF would be the same as the X100T. The A6300 / A6500 (especially) would fit the bill but starting to get larger again depending on lens choice. Ive never really thought about an RX100 until now with the announcement of the MKV as the AF speed looks amazing and its pocketable. Its £1000 though! Wondered about the previous versions. Thoughts?

I had a stent of owning the original RX100. I don't remember the AF being great, but I don't remember it being terrible. It was good enough for snapshots, but I never did anything too crazy with it. The newer versions have seen improvements in AF...particularly the MKIV and V

I just could never fall in love with the IQ. It's great for a pocketable camera, but never good enough to not second guess leaving the 'real' camera at home. They're too expensive to not be fully happy with.

Your last paragraph has helped me realise it's not the camera I'm after. The search continues. If only the x100T AF was faster in lower light.

Been keeping an eye out for cheaper a6300 bodies now that the 6500 has been announced but the used prices are holding firm!

on the gear front...I have been having a mental dilemma...I had high hopes that the A7R2 could hang at the track, but proved that if it can, it isn't with me and the way I shoot...I want to scale back on my gear, especially since I have not used the 5D2 since getting the Sony, it seems like a waste to have it just sitting in a bag...so I have been considering finding a 1Dx on the used market to be my race car/sports camera that can also be a backup FF if I need it...and keep shooting mostly adapted lenses on the Sony and just maintain the split personality system...I do want to add the B18...I really, really want that lens...
