The camera should have an auto off setting like Canon cameras do. I've never had it save my battery like that - always just goes to zero. Just checked the tracking on my Laowa 12mm...should get here in a day or two. Hope it doesn't suffer the same infinity focus defect. I'm thinking I must have switched it on while lifting it without realising. Leica M11 | Leica Q2 | Sony α7RV

These were lit with a nissin i40 bounced off the ceiling (or the wall behind me I forget). One thing I'm not good at though is WB on portraits. I always just set it by eye in post and that leads to me having inconsistency between images which bugs me. Not really sure the best option for me to improve that. I don't think a grey card would work as my images generally are not posed Leica M11 | Leica Q2 | Sony α7RV

Hopefully your laowa will be fine, I haven't read anyone else with my issue so that's a good sign. I'm just waiting on them shipping my canon mount replacement now. The defective one is on its way back to them Remind me of your lens lineup - I know you've got all three Batis, what else? David | Flickr

I'm asking because I keep contemplating going with a smaller kit of the three Batis lenses plus the 12mm and TS-E 24mm (which I've grown comfortable with on my a7R II). 3 batis lenses, FE35 2.8 , FE55, FE24-70 f/4, Samyang 14, Samyang 24, tokina 90 macro and a laowa hopefully soon. But can any of you portrait guys offer any advice with regards to being consistent with WB? Or is my only option using a grey card and a test shot each time? If I have fairly consistent lighting conditions, then I've found the expodisc with custom set-up WB to do a very good job at setting a good middle of the ground white balance value, requiring very little, if any, white balance adjustments in post. For outdoor portraits I'll use a grey card to set a WB value before I start a series of shots at a particular spot. Expodisc is less ideal outdoors since you have color casts in the grass and what-not. Lastly, I saw that you were using a flash earlier. If you're balancing flash with ambient tungsten light then you'll need to use flash gels to eliminate color casts. Thanks for the info.WB is a constant struggle for me it feels. I adjust it to what looks right in post but then at a later date I look on my Flickr and realise the skin tones vary from one shot to the next and it bugs the hell out me. Flash and gels is a whole other level of complexity that I can't quite get my head around yet Leica M11 | Leica Q2 | Sony α7RV

In my house I have a mixture of light bulb types but no clue what classes as tungsten. I know some are eco halogen but I guess that's not tungsten either? Keeping skin-tones consistent with changing lighting conditions is a constant struggle...if the light is really varying between shots its basically impossible to keep it consistent. focalpointsphoto.com

Have learned a ton and am continuously amazed at all the photos everyone on this board produces. I basically am just a hobbyist and really caught the photography bug about 4 years ago and became fascinated by how the camera works and how changing a few settings can really change a picture. I mainly just shoot my children and other family members and do a little stuff for work here and there. Maybe one day when my kids are older and require less hands on attention I might want to do some stuff on the side to aid in my GAS and just because I enjoy the entire process. I have a ton to learn still but that's what's so great about photography...you never really master it. I'm amazed at some of the processing on this thread and hope to learn more. I'm mainly shoot people but would love to shoot more landscapes one day when I have more time...with the kids being so small it's tough for me to get away. Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and thank you all for all the inspiration and other knowledge you spill. I used to own 6D and converted to an A7RII about 10 months ago after having owned a Sony A6000. I loved the mirrorless technology and the ability to see you exposure in the electronic viewfinder. I might contribute a few pics here and there from now on instead of just lurking in the shadows like I have been...lol Have a great weekend everyone. IMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/N7uwBM
