3 batis lenses, FE35 2.8 , FE55, FE24-70 f/4, Samyang 14, Samyang 24, tokina 90 macro and a laowa hopefully soon.

I'll soon be selling the FE35, Samyang 14, and maybe the tokina as I hardly use it.

I could actually live without the 55 as I now use the batis lenses more but can't bring myself to sell it as I like it so much, it just doesn't get used as much as I'd like.

The 24-70 is hopefully going to be my outdoor family lens shooting at 5.6 for snapshots. I've only had a chance to test it so far but the images are surprisingly sharp. For anything indoor or low light I'll revert back to primes or if I want shallow dof etc

Very interesting. You don't miss having a 70-200? I'm starting to think I wouldn't either. I actually rarely shoot anything above 90mm and could probably be just fine with the Batis 85mm as my longest lens.

Thanks for sharing your lens list...I may go a very similar direction IF I can bring myself to sell off my existing lenses. I absolutely love all my lenses and the only thing 'wrong' about them is they're heavy and not E-mount lenses (except the new Laowa).

try the expodisc. with flash point it to the wall where you are bouncing when creating the custom white balance.

a local photog friend bought this instead for the cheaper price. I tried it and it seems to work just like the expodisc.

Hi Eddie

you shot the photos with a 1/160 shutter speed which means you should not see a lot of ambient light (you can test it by shooting the same settings with no flash). If you see that there is not much ambient captured, then you can set the color temp in the WB first to flash setting (not sure what the color temp of the nissin is) but flash setting should get you close, if that doesnt work then you can use custom WB by shooting a white paper with no exposure comp which means it should be rendered gray and then use that as the custom WB reference.

EDIT : the white paper shot should have the flash firing - also it has to fill the whole frame

Hey guys. I've been following this thread for over a year. Have learned a ton and am continuously amazed at all the photos everyone on this board produces. I basically am just a hobbyist and really caught the photography bug about 4 years ago and became fascinated by how the camera works and how changing a few settings can really change a picture. I mainly just shoot my children and other family members and do a little stuff for work here and there. Maybe one day when my kids are older and require less hands on attention I might want to do some stuff on the side to aid in my GAS and just because I enjoy the entire process. I have a ton to learn still but that's what's so great about photography...you never really master it. I'm amazed at some of the processing on this thread and hope to learn more. I'm mainly shoot people but would love to shoot more landscapes one day when I have more time...with the kids being so small it's tough for me to get away. Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and thank you all for all the inspiration and other knowledge you spill. I used to own 6D and converted to an A7RII about 10 months ago after having owned a Sony A6000. I loved the mirrorless technology and the ability to see you exposure in the electronic viewfinder. I might contribute a few pics here and there from now on instead of just lurking in the shadows like I have been...lol Have a great weekend everyone.

I've never actually owned a 70-200. The longest lens I've had is the 135L and do miss that sometimes (constantly fighting the urge not to pick it up again) but generally speaking I get by fine with 85 being my longest lens. With regards to your situation I would say that the best thing I've done is go full native (well apart from the ones that are not native but my main lenses are native)

Yeah on these ones mixed light was not the issue. The camera automatically changes to flash WB when you attach the nissin but the resulting image was too warm (probably due to the colour of the wall I bounced off). My WB issues are more general in that from one shoot to the next I do it by eye In post but when I look through my images afterwards I can see differences from shoot to shoot. Im just trying to get a bit of consistency. I rarely use my flash either so it's not a flash issue as such

Embarrassingly I don't even know what is tungsten and what is not. In my house I have a mixture of light bulb types but no clue what classes as tungsten. I know some are eco halogen but I guess that's not tungsten either?

I suggest changing all the bulbs in your house to one color temperature, one of the things I kept in mind when remodeling. Mixed lighting is crap light.

The labels should say warm aka tungsten (2700-3000K), daylight/cool *most florescent (5000K, you can find the 3000K variety). Don't ever mix warm and cool to save a few bucks.....I run 3000K through the whole house except outdoors, which is 5000K in front, 3000K in rear.

For mixed lights I have a preset that generally gets me closer to 3K with some curves that combat the blues which tend to stand out more.

I don't think I could be without a 70-200 in my bag. Just too versatile. I like to use mine for landscapes too. Only issue it's heavy.

I would recommend going native glass. It will save you a lot in weight. I can carry my Batis 18, Lox 21, and FE 55 in my bag with no issues.
