Nice work on this Travis. I like the framing and tones. Looks like some tricky lighting.

Thanks. Its was a little tricky, but the tools the Sony has made it easier.

I notice that you're shooting a lot with the Batis 18. Really says something about the lens that you're drawn to using it so much. The results are beautiful and it's great incentive for me to get my stuff switched over.

Great shot! Love the angle.

It is an amazing lens...it is one more reason I dont want to ditch the Sony...I want to get that lens.

This is a bit sony related but not the type of camera we all talk about. I cant get a damn PSVR here in the philippines....found 2 but they are being sold for more than $600 USD for the $399 standard package.......HIGHWAY ROBBERY! I understand supply and demand but even Sony Japan and US do not raise their sticker price to gouge customers even if they know demand is more than supply.

I am sad i am not in the US. I think Cyber Monday may see the Starter Pack getting priced at 399 or 349 USD from 499. If they extend the launch bundle for 499 thats even better......

Anyone can get me a bundle from cyber monday/black friday? Is it safe to FedEX or DHL door to door??

It's actually a xmas gift for my son....i dont have enough time on my hands to play nowadays but seeing him enjoy it would be a great experience....he just turned 8 by the way.

Thanks for the tips! I'll look at those.

Smaller is definitely better. I should have explained that I just want a bag for lenses for when I'm out shooting. Camera is on the strap, so camera storage isn't needed. Just a small bag to hold 3 lenses would do well.

have you looked into PD's field pouch and their upcoming lens pouch?

The one thing that bugs me about the retro 5 is the width, that's why I much prefer the shibata. I don't find it too deep though. I generally have a lens either side with hood on and then in the middle I have the camera with lens mounted. I don't find they flop about. What I did do though was swap out the dividers to ones that had a flap so once the lens is in the side (either side) o fold the flap over the top of it which means when the camera is lifted in and out the centre there's no risk of damage to the lenses

i think they created a new line mirrorless mover to address these concerns......

Think Tank City Walker 10. You'll thank me. It's considerably lighter than the Retrospective. Has Velcro but also a buckle. Can remove the insert and carry around if you need. Even better it's discontinued I believe so you can find them for $80-100 new, even less used.

I have the CityWalker 20 and really like it for a 3 lens setup...it holds the gripped Sony with a lens attached and easily two Canon lenses in the sides...

I also picked up an F-Stop Brooklyn sling this week...I think it will do nicely with the ungripped body and two or three lenses, be small and backpack like but offer ease of access...for a walkaround setup...

Yes...I have a bag issue...they all have their own good uses...

I really want a smaller bag like that that has magnets/not velcro. Anything like that?

Not sure I would trust magnets...they can be easily disconnected...which could be disastrous...

Mirrorless Mover looks more like what I'm looking for (nice size). A zipper instead of velcro would be ok with me.

I like the features of the PD Everyday Sling bag. Here's a quick overview.

According to B&H, the expected availability of the bag will be Dec. 16.

Looks like a nice bag, Gene. I am a fan of their dividers.

that looks identical to my rokinon messenger bag,i got it on amazon on sale very cheap, wasn't expecting much but its my fave bag, fits the sony with a lens and 2 other lenses and extra battery and other stuff. the strap is very heavy duty,it was like 15 bucks on sale, incredible bag for that price, reg price is around 40 which is a deal too

Hi David

I went through similar decision making process jus recently. I was looking for a small, discrete messenger style bag to carry my A7R2 and maybe 2-3 lenses that didn't look like a camera bag. I ended up purchasing the retrospect 5, it fit the bill in terms of what I was looking for however there are a couple of "issues" that need to e considered.

The Pros
1. It's beautifully made, high end canvas construction, it oozes quality everything from the canvas used to the strap and hardware, it will last a lifetime, I'm certain of that. I purchased the pipestone colour which is an olive colour, looks great
2. It's super discrete, it doesn't scream "camera bag, no-one would know you are carrying expensive gear in this bag.
3. The interior is sufficient for a body and lens attached plus a couple of extra smaller lenses, I think it's perfect for a Sony shooter that uses adapter leica or ZM glass or the Loxia line of lenses. I can fit the Sony, Zeiss distagon 35 ZM, sooner 50 C ZM and 85 ZM easily plus extra batteries, cards and my cell phone, wallet etc.

Cons
1. The bag is heavy for it's size, I think a coupe of people already mentioned this however honestly it doest bother me that much, in my view these bags are over-engineered, it's heavy duty canvas that likely will last a lifetime, I can't every see myself wearing out this bag.
2. I'm not a big fan of the divider system they use, basically three sections, however I usually cary the Sony with the 35 Distagon attached lying flat on it's side, carrying it this way occupies 2 slots, leaving just one area of the bag for additional lenses.
3. I'm also not a fan of the dividers, basically 2 dividers that sit perpendicular to the length of the bag and divide the bag into three sections, they do provide additional dividers to further segment the section but these have to be install perpendicularly as well.
4. Although the strap is very comfortable ( it's wide, heavy duty ) it doesn't have anti-twist swivels so it a pain because you have to untwist the start to sling it over your shoulder.

All in all, I think it's a great bag for a walk around town mirror-less shooter who is looking for a great quality discrete messenger style bag that is small in size and fashionable at the same time. I think if I had to make the decision again I probably would have gone with the retrospective 6 just because it's a little bit larger and the ability to sub-divide sections.

Apparently back in April so any updated their apps including this Smooth reflections app. The update now supports silent shutter an uncompressed RAW.

Does this mean that using silent shutter will save mechanical shutter? If so that's good news.

It looks like you'll need to update the camera firmware as well.
