Thanks! Are you saying all the flashes for Sony have a plastic hot shoe, regardless of brand (your Godox shoe broke)? I'm a little confused. I think I saw some complaints on Amazon about the i40 shoe as well.

Yes all flashes made for Sony have plastic feet. It's fine for most uses and especially for something like this i40. But not great for off camera lights used outdoors which will fall from time to time

Putting the 85 to good use David.

David/Alfredo - have you both been using your laowa 12 more now? What's your thoughts if you have?

Mine should be delivered any day and I'm in two minds between keeping it or putting it straight onto eBay without breaking the vacuum pack to try and recoup my money

It's amazing how the creepiness of the Kickstarter program can darken our thoughts about a product. Really, I'm mostly pleased with mine although I share your conflicted thoughts due to the experience. But, other than a slight decentering (bottom two corners are off), I'm actually quite pleased with the lens and plan to keep it. In all reality it will always be a funky special-use lens, so I'll never use it that much, but I'm glad to have it.

If you do open yours, I would like to see how the Canon-mount model compares to mine. The more wide a lens gets the harder and harder it is to be amazingly sharp. This one looks right in line with my other extreme WA lens experiences (Canon 11-24 and CV 10mm). Heck, even with the decentered corners, it seems sharper than the CV 10mm, and I think that's a terrific lens.

While I've been over-using my Batis 85mm, I've not yet put my Laowa 12mm to good use yet. If you sell, I see Joshua (on FM) has been posting lovely shots with his CV 12mm, so that might be a good alternative. He too has owned the 11-24mm and can compare his experiences with it vs the CV 12mm, if you're interested. Of course you can't do filters with it - which is why I bought the Laowa.

I'm liking what I'm seeing from my Laowa 12. Really amazing FOV which is tricky to compose. I started editing some architecture shots that I took before the holiday and am happy with the sharpness and distortion control. Actually the corner sharpness is not that bad. I plan to crop in anyway so for most cases it's not a big deal if the corners are a touch soft. I also received word from a reviewer on YouTube that the Canon version has soft corners too. I'm planning to keep mine and plan to continue testing it.

What do you see your lens lineup ultimately looking like? Planning to go mostly with native lenses? Aside from the TS-E 24 II, I'm putting all my Canon-mount lenses up for sale soon as I get back home in a couple weeks.

Right now the only other lens that I've got a strong itching for is the lens that has a DJI Phantom 4 Pro attached to it (and an awesome 1" Sony sensor inside). :p

Doing a lot of portrait work, I will be building a lens kit around that...the Sigma 50Art stays for now, the 135 is going no where for the time being...then the B85 to round out that trio of portrait lenses. the B18/25 would be for landscape stuff, architectural single image stuff...and I will at some point next year pick up a TSE or two...I would like a native Wide zoom at some point too...but only if I find that with the B18/25 I am missing something.

If you switch it over to MF (e.g. via the Fn menu), and turn the camera off, it should still be in MF when you turn it back on. At least it does that on mine, just tried it with the B85

I was out shooting when I posed this question, but now that I'm trying to set this up I'm at a loss. There doesn't seem to be an option in the Fn menu for changing from AF to MF. How do I it?

David, on my Fn menu there's a box that shows the af mode (af-c, af-s etc). Within that option there's an MF option. I may have added that to the Fn menu though as mine is fully customised

Thanks! I didn't even think to see it there. That, like several other things about the Sony menu system, isn't intuitive for me.
How have you customized yours - assigned it to a Custom button?
