I'm not sure if that's a fair comparison since I don't know if both adjustments make corrections in the same way or to the same degree. What is 100% for one editor may be the equivalent of 120% for another. 100% throttle on my Prius was a lot different than 100% throttle on my Cadillac.

I think the question is, do both shadow adjustments work as expected regardless of what percentage the slider is at?

Gene even at around 50%, you starting to get that effect. and if you add blacks to compensate, it will only worsen.

What are your creative picture style settings on your camera set to? Reason I ask is the preview on the back of the camera look off compared Lightroom.

Thanks for providing more details. Is it safe to say then that shadow recovery does not work as expected regardless of what percentage is used?

Is this a general open question...

If so...I think I have mine turned off for the viewfinder and the LCD...I think...I find that the screen images are much different than the RAW's and I focus more on the histogram than anything else.

Awesome and congrats!!
FYI: if you need any more adapter rings get 'em from The Filter Dude (external link) for big savings (they're 100% compatible and well made).

I know about those...I am just weird about some things...I know the LEE ring is more...just wanted to stick with it...it is the last one I need...the 25 and 85 both use 67.

maybe it's better to judge it for yourself, there's a free trial for sure.

Looking lean....Gene! ;-)a I'm doing the same. Down 10. Back to my fighting' weight!

ON another note.......Sony/Mac users please chime in if possible. My workflow is pretty rudimentary but goes like this....take photo, download RAW file to to mac folder, import into LR (LR 6.8 now out and supports a6500 files!) edit, export back to original folder. This seems to be working with one HUGE flaw.....;the Sony ARW files do not show up as viewable thumbnails. Rather they only show as generic ARW cartoon icons....they all look the same (with different file # of course). This is an issue as occasionally I like to browse and delete the RAWs before before importing to LR. A quick internet search seems to suggest this is not a new phenomena but a well know issue. Unfortunately I have not found an answer. Anyone here have suggestions? There has to be a way to view the RAW file's thumbnail???
Thanks

I would suggest doing everything from within LR catalogue. Dont copy the files to the folder first (LR does it for you). Dont manually cull photos from mac finder (do it in LR). If you move files or folders do it with LR as it keeps your edits etc

My filter holder is Lee (as I bought it before finding out about the filter dude) but all my rings are FD. Very well made and fit perfect (and cheaper). They even do free delivery top the UK from the US

looks like you're working on a jpeg... too bad, wanted to try the software, but will pass until that's sorted.

I've got even cheaper china adapter rings, like less than $10 a pop :-P

been using all circular for a while now, literally carrying 2 sets of ND's/CPL's every time I go shoot ......

on a related GAS note, I'm headed down the TAP rabbit hole, have some manual lenses that I still actively use, so will love to try them out in AF form.
