I've said all along that you probably aren't going to want a Batis 135mm. At every FL the Batis is going to be 1 or 2/3 stop slower than the typical fast prime (25mm f/2 vs 1.4, 85mm f/1.8 vs 1.4). That's just evidence-of-precedents reality and it seems some just aren't paying attention to that. If you want fast primes it's going to come from Sony, period, unless Sigma starts directly addressing the e-mount market.

This is exactly why I've wanted a Batis 35mm 1.8 or 2 and did not want a Batis 135mm.

That said, I'll withhold judgment on a Batis 135mm till we start seeing some images. The Loxia 85 seemed like a loser lens to me until I saw it's IQ excellence. A Batis 135mm f/2.8 could still be amazing if it's super sharp with the right kind of OOF rendering.

Hopefully that means a Batis 35 2.0 is still possible as opposed to a 1.4 (I am now back in the wanting a 35 f/2 camp after my fuji idea didnt work)

One more comment on a yet-to-be-announced fast 135mm: It probably will be another Sony Zeiss prime like the 35mm and 50mm f/1.4. Why? Because they already have the lens design in a-mount. Why redesign for a new GM lens when they already have such a brilliant design in a Sony Zeiss form? They should, however, scale it back to f/2, though, to bring down the size and weight.

cant wait to get the sony, maybe for a birthday present........ I can wait it out as I'm pretty happy with the rok 85 f1.4 + TAP.... but native + lightweight = too hard to resist.

I don't know how many of you are interested in this but here is an audio test using the Sony ECM-AW4 wireless mic with my Sony action cam. I had a lavalier mic plugged into the transmitter and the receiver plugged into the action camera, both while mounted on my car and then on my Feiyu Tech GM-G4-S gimbal. The video was shot at 4K and downsampled to 1080p for upload to Youtube.

I made no adjustments to the audio in post, it's just as it was recorded.

sounds good. no wind noise too. the gimbal seems to work good as well.

I bought this Aspen lavalier and it's out for delivery. I will test it asap. It's recommended by a youtube vlogger as oppose to the lavalier that comes with the Tascam DR-10L.

Looks good Gene. I've got a gimbal that I use with my rx1rII...my technique with motion is kind of bad, but its a lot of fun to use.

While its always nice to be able to open a 135 up when it makes sense, 135 f2.8 isn't necessarily a deal killer if the OOF rendering is good. I find myself stopping my SAL 135 f1.8 to f2.8-4.0 anyway because you're usually framing tight at that focal length and need more DOF. Plus the background compression takes care of a lot of the background anyway.

But yeah...we'll see how the OOF rendering on that Batis 135 is.

here's a couple of SOOC with ambient light... i'll try later with artificial light.
