It might be the best for dumb adapters...but for this dumb operator...I get better results if I tell the camera that I have the 135 on. When set to Auto, it doesn't seem to compensate enough, and I have find that shutter speeds under 1/200 I have trouble getting a sharp shot, if I set it to 135, I get sharp images down to 1/100. I only really mess with it when shooting portraits, just about every other image I take is tripod mounted.

Hmm that's interesting. Sometimes with the fe 55 I don't get sharp images when I feel I should and other times it's fine. I wonder if it's an ibis issue. It's only that lens though as far as I can tell. Maybe lee sold me a lemon :D (joke)

Something different. A race downtown attended by cyclist all over Cali and some from Oregon. A7RII+85GM can keep up with AF-C+Lock On Expandable

I did my first all nighter last night shooting the milky way.

After a bit of driving around and trying different location we tried to find a spot at Lake kerete. We were alonside the lake, but in the wrong position so missed getting the relection shots we were aiming for. It works out we were 300m away from where we wanted to be, but couldn't find the turn off in the dark! We will be returning :)

I posted these first in the milky way forum https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=18285197 and metadata shows there. They were all shot at f2.8 using the Samyang 14mm f2.8

I will be shooting portraits of my niece in Houston in mid March. She is graduating pharmacy school. My only portrait capable lens with AF is the FE 55. The Canon 70-200L will be the other lens I plan to use. I will bring my loxia 85 too but it's MF only. This will be natural light since I don't own any lights other than a single speedlight. I will do my best but I feel out of my element.

I wonder if I should rent the 85 GM just for the shoot.

the samyang/rokinon 14mm is underrated in my opinion, i like the lens so much i got it in 2 mounts, its my go to for wide angle shots, awsome photos btw.

are u worried about not being able to keep up with the progression with a mf lens, if u have time to focus i am sure your loxia would be great, how fast does the canon focus, i know on my a7 with canon its super slow and i wouldn't even bother taking that combo but maybe yours in faster, if 85mm is the focal u think u will be using most maybe a rental would be best if the progression will be fast

Yes exactly. I'm good at manual focusing stationary objects but don't have much experience with portraits using MF. Add shallow DoF and I'm concerned about missing shots. I'll just need to ask my niece to be extra patient with me.

The AF on the adapted Canon 70-200L is pretty good below 135mm. Beyond that it can hunt quite a bit.

welps a bit of bad news, my contax 100-300 dreams.... shattered. Got the lens to find out that it's badly damaged, no hope. On top of that, my CY to LM adapter for TAP..... that doesnt fit, lock mechanism off by 1mm or so (mounts but doesnt lock in place, compared to my other dumb cy adapter). The contax is a nice looking lens for sure, wish I could have made it work, but the double wammy is too much trouble, going to stick to native.

Nightmare!! That's not good news. I'll just have to start posting some pics to tempt you back (still not had a chance to test it!)

it's indeed a nightmare, the lens looks perfect until you mount it on....

EDIT: excuse the TAP exif... it was handheld, but simply looking through the VF, it's clear that the lens is totally messed up.

Jeez, has it got haze on the front or rear element perhaps. That's really odd

naw, it's been dropped for sure. badly tilted elements, hence the center is okish but the edges totally thrashed. I've had this happen to a few other lenses so I'm kind of familiar with the problem. It doesnt help that my mailman likes throwing my packages :-P

dang Charlie...do you have any recourse with the seller? Was it that way before shipping...was it insured during shipping?

In better, I hope news...the CV12 should arrive tomorrow...I won't be here...
